  2. Agreed. I saw that article pop up in my news feed this morning and rolled my eyes. The media really are clutching at straws with the dirt dishing if they think her upbringing has anything to do with what happened at Dreamworld last week. On a side note whilst talking about the media, I was approached via my blog yesterday by the GCB. They wanted permission to utilise one of my photographs with credit for their latest article about the MW Coaster. After some thinking and advice from friends and my husband, ultimately decided against it, mainly out of disgust and protest for the way they and other similar media outlets have handled the Dreamworld incident. They can bite me ??

  3. If I were putting bets on it, I think something reasonably similar, but not identical to Flash at Iewa Adventure would be what it is. Which is amazing news because that ride looks brilliant, and Mack do fantastic rides by all accounts. We're getting a serious piece of roller coaster here people.

  4. Ridiculous article, the CEO's lifestyle is of no importance, relevance or interest

  5. Whilst the park may not have made an official announcement @Theme Park Girl, I think we're quite safe to say a hyper IS in fact confirmed - by the fact that construction companies are referencing that in their tenders and other related documentation.

  6. ^LOL Kyle Scandilands in speedos in a horror maze would be so horrific you'd have to have surgery to remove the part of your brain where the memory is stored to be able to have any semblance of a normal life after.

  7. Give me that ride turn for turn, twist for twist and I would be over the moon. Anything of the ilk would change the theme park landscape on the GC immediately as it would raise the stakes between parks on what the ceiling is for the level/scale of rides & attractions in our parks

  8. Sure did ? #istandbydreamworld And yep, I've seen the same thing on a few others as well. Along with a couple of other very lengthy public anti-media rants... following my own recent one, of course ?

  11. ^I hope you told them that. ? Perth Now also shared that article and got roasted by about 100 people in the comments section. It's good to see the public is sick of this media beat up.

  13. A bit of a flying visit to this one on October 31, and it was a pleasant surprise. In a nutshell: there was 4 mazes, the rides were all open, trick or treat stations, Halloween themed concessions, a show, face painting and scare actors throughout the park. Halloscream is a separately ticketed event, and based on it's popularity I hope they add dates and expand the event next year. The mazes: Dead and Breakfast: this is a slightly re-themed Mystery Manor with a different narrative. It's short, but the sets are great and the scare actors were seriously going for it. A friend who was working in the maze promised she'd make me crap my pants, better luck next year lol (or slip some laxatives in my drink before the event). After years of Halloween Horror Nights and many other US haunts I'm pretty de-sensitised. Private Screaming: located under the wild mouse in what is usually a function room I believe. This was another really cool maze with some great performances from the scare actors. You go into a screening room and sit down to see one of the scare actor's films, but something goes wrong and she bursts through the screen and complains you've ruined your movie and you should get out. What follows is various movie monster (human and otherwise) encounters. Norman Bates was especially good. Alone: this is in the mirror maze under the slides in Coney Island. Basically it's in the dark with scare actors at various points and hanging bodies to navigate through. Good fun. Madame Fortuna's Forgotten Funfair: a carnival themed maze in a tent on the old Ranger site. A lot of fun with really committed scare actors and even some rather acrobatic performances. Sets weren't anything too great, but the performers more than made up for it. Another fun maze. It's a really solid event, and guests were dressed up even more than the scare actors in some cases, some really impressive costumes. My only regret is I didn't have more time to spend there. Crowds were light early and they opened about 15 mins before the advertised start time. I'll definitely go back next year if my schedule permits.

  14. I hope the drop doesn't turn 90° like flash. But besides that the coaster looks awesome, great airtime, lots of elements and smoooooooth. I also really like the inversions, as it gives the ride more x factor.

  15. Boom Boom. 2 posts, 2 doozies! Welcome There is plenty of footage of them moving the dummy's around, filling them with water etc. Also footage of the water filling the troughs. Air space restrictions began once the dummy's were to be placed in the boats.

  18. Visible just above the Country Fair writing (above WipeOut) as the boat... And as the walkthrough attraction...

  19. It was a slow moving boat attraction that had some animatronic animals as well as a couple of live animals... The boats were then removed and the "river" they went on was filled with concrete and it was a walkthrough attraction before being removed entirely...

  22. ABC's good old Media Watch, not surprisingly, did a story on the media coverage of the Thunder River Rapids incident. They mainly focused on the media coverage of Ardent Leisure's response as well as briefly on the media sensationalism. You can watch the approximately 6 minute segment or read the transcript by clicking here.

  24. Crash test dummies will be used to stage re-enactments of the incident on a Dreamworld ride that tragically took the lives of four people. Story: https://yhoo.it/2egE81I A truck transporting the test dummies reportedly arrived at the theme park on Monday, in a bid to determine what went wrong on the fatal ride on October 25. Test dummies are commonly used in forensic investigations where issues such as height and weight are crucial to findings. Report on 7 News at 6pm. #Dreamworld #7News

  27. I wonder how much of an effect this incident will have on the completion and opening date of the LEGO store and the completion of Stage 2 of Tiger Island.

  28. I understand that Thunder River Rapids is not part of the main safety audit but really, it will go through a safety audit as part of the investigation (hence why I called it a safety audit to simplify things). I'm thinking more along the lines that even if all the rides of DW are found to be safe in their safety audit, they would still have to wait to see if the Thunder River Rapids investigation found one of the causes of the incident to be due to park mismanagement (such as poor policies, relaxed maintenance/ride operation culture etc.). If they could rule that out, then the park can open all other safe rides again to the general public.
