  1. Meh. No one has been bullied. Sick of people throwing that word around who have no clue what bullying truly is, and how the inaccurate use of it to describe someone who simply disagrees with you and provides a reason for it, just dilutes it (thanks for the 6 month delayed fountain you just threw me for the last time I commented about this in another post @Jobe). My dad told me something when I was younger that has always stayed with me - no one will take the time to bother to criticise, insult or tease you if they didn’t care about you or what you have to say. If they didn’t care, they’d simply ignore you. (Or block you these days). Take a bit of ribbing or banter for what it is, and don’t let the thoughts & comments of people who you have no real relationship with affect you in a negative way

  4. That's insulting @Skeeta You mean like inferring that someone isn't intelligent? There's an awful lot of black kettles here folks. To put things into perspective with this comment though, this was not the escalation post, this was Push's response to a previous post which he found insulting and returned salvo on. There is always a starting point and you cannot just pick bits from the middle and infer that this was the nexus point where things went south. In this case it wasn't. Lets not muddy the waters here. I am not saying this to take sides for either views, I am just weary of these sort of posts that inhabit these boards at times. They are neither needed or required. I get that there are egos and arrogance involved and your "standing" or "pecking order" on the board is displayed- however- I say this to everyone- just don't be a prick and the board will sort itself out. Accountability for these type of posts must be taken by ALL involved. Finally this: When this sort of message gets posted in the wake of this last series of posts , you then can see the size of the issue that can affect the boards. The fact that a long time reader that has not posted for , in his own words, "a while", can recognise some of the posts here and call it for what it is, despite denials or deflections from others, should ring alarm bells for all involved on the forums. This absolutely supports the view that @iwerks brought up a while ago Now I am sure that this view or opinion that I have aired will cause some outrage for a select few. Thats ok- sometimes civil discussion can cause that. What I do hope is that this does not evolve into a "running joke" with needling comments that pop up in other posts from time to time. ( As they have in the past) I think its a serious issue and one that should be taken on its merits and I feel that a growing number of contributors and posters on this board are fully recognising this. At the end of the day, we all love theme parks and the amusement industry. This is a fantastic forum and platform in which we can indulge and interact with other like minded individuals. I guess on the back of this. we all need to think a little harder ( including me) on how and what we post. This has certainly been an enlightening experience for me and I hope that it does get noticed. I would hate to think how many other potential posters or future members of the forum are holding back or intimidated from sharing because of these actions. Hopefully , we can encourage more and more people to join and let OUR community grow with out fear of the shackles that have held them back previously. Cheers guys.

  5. Unsurprisingly, citation is unable to be provided. Same as I'm unable to provide evidence that the same extra scrutiny on theme parks is affecting Scooby. Oh and Sea World is a mess. They should never have gotten in such a state that they needed to add a temporary attraction.

  6. Blocking someone doesn't stop them being abused/bullied, just because they can't see it.

  7. Bullying is not the same as conflict between people (like having a fight) or disliking someone. @Jobe@iwerks@pushbutton You might think yourself as the antibullying crusaders but all you are doing is harming people who really get bullied. Not to different from the people who jump into the pools at SW to save the dolphins. I know you guys mean well but I think you need more education on what bullying is. People do fight & people do dislike each other all the time.

  8. @AlexB Thank you for respecting my stance and opinions. In regards to your final comment, I think I know where it comes from. Many opinions on here aren't debated, they're attacked. I'm happy to have a discussion but in response to @Richard questioning why I haven't provided a rebuttal to some arguments it's because my words are picked apart and dissected to consistently keep me on the back foot and that doesn't constitute discussion in my opinion. A lot of people don't have the patience to deal with that sort of behaviour and you end up with a community full of twitchy people with big sticks ready to whack whatever comes into sight. I could respond in gifs, short sentences and 'lists' that entirely focus on one side of the argument but language was invented for a reason and I choose to use it.

  9. More disappointed than anything. This community perpetuates a negativity bias. It lusts for failure and drama. Threads and articles regarding positive outcomes, announcements, and successes are quickly snuffed by negative bickering, snarky remarks and the dismantling of others opinions that don't match the echo chamber. Please, prove me wrong.

  10. Can we just try and stick to the community Guidelines people? It's quite simple (not that I have always followed them). Back on topic... This seems to serve as fairly good confirmation that issues are being rectified in order for the ride to be signed off.

  11. Great points and very well articulated @CaptainLazerGuns. Good point @Naazon. We know better than most, how far and fast Dreamworld has fallen. Thats not to say that we want to see it close or shut its doors- for mine its the exact opposite. If we tend to focus on the negatives, for mine, its because there are so few positives in Dreamworld's current situation to balance these out. We ALL want a strong and viable Dreamworld, but most of us recognise that this is currently far from the case. We are all hoping that at some stage someone sorts out the predicament that Dreamworld is in and restores it back to its pre-eminence in the Australian theme park industry.

  12. Does anyone really make one of a kind attractions these days? Feels like it's back in the days when parks had old eccentric owners who poured their creativity into parks that you'd get truly one off in house attractions. Off the top of my head there's Whirlpool at WnW, a live SCUBA diving show at SW, and paddlesteemer bushrangers show at DW. I would also suggest that Young Einstein's gravity house at MW would fit into that, even if the idea was borrowed from Freedomland USA (another CV Wood park). I think aside from the standard high-end innovative stuff that Disney and Universal do, most additions these are more clinical and less unique. Even the unique stuff is stuff that you pick out of a catalogue from a manufacturer, or the same thing as something else with a different skin. You still get occasional unique things but I think it's rarer than it used to be. Having said that, whatever that strange Movie themed park in Italy is looks pretty wild.

  13. Hello, have not posted for a while but enjoying the banter ..not the bullying. What is occurring at moment ( sky voyager or a pull of other projects such as lazy river) would suggest a working capital problem for ardent .If had cash sky voyager would be open. Should never have got to that point if better management in first instance . Should have budgeted and planned correctly. Most businesses fail due to poor liquidity management . In this case they stopped spending due to lack of cash, but in a position where US business is mediocre to cover . Issue is can the existing business keep covering dreamworld ? Ardent is asx listed so eventually decision may be taken out of hands via share price . There are worrying signs here . If something does not turn in short term dreamworld is done. Board would be assessing land value right now vs more spend . Risk and return . Does it meet capital return targets or hoping on takeover like in the past . Does additional reinvestment make this happen ( ie the tower in 96 and hope someone buys the dream like macquarie leisure trust ) Also going offshore for funding does not suggest they can’t get domestic funding . It’s extremly common . Ask any Aussie large cap. Doesn’t highlight anything.

  15. I appreciate your response @joz. I'll throw my opinions out there to help further the discussion and get the debate going. I'm always happy to be proven wrong, even though I can be rather stubborn on my stances.

  16. That's insulting @Skeeta Apparently, only some people are allowed to insult others Yes, some are allowed to stand. The fact that one has been removed, when the original remains, also speaks volumes. You mean like inferring that someone isn't intelligent? There's an awful lot of black kettles here folks.

  17. Dreamworld: WHS isn't approving our rides without looking at them any more, that's why Sky Voyager isn't open. Blame WHS for wanting to inspect our rides, for some strange reason!

  18. Can we retire the shaded seating area jokes now. Push is just bullying Dreamworld at this point which goes against forum rules.

  19. Yeah this is a tree falling in a forest Zen philosophy sort of thing. It's the interactions between the 2. Normally one will say something, the other will argue because internet and theyll both back and forth until name calling. Blocking isn't a perfect solution but it would make the earlier stages harder to achieve.

  20. It helps, but if someone quotes it, you can still see it. @Skeeta - you’re having a go at someone for their love of Bermuda Triangle. How logical is that?

  21. @JobeThe word "bullying" has lost all meaning here because people like “@(&” use it as it an attack on others when they are losing a debate. Everything I wrote was a joke and the people that laughed got it. I only used Push because his name was on the bin. If your name was on the bin guess what. The joke would have been about you. It’s a joke. Some people here believe they can run a theme park from a chat room. I say lighten up and have some fun.

  22. Debate us then, have an actual argument about why you think we're wrong. Don't just say I disagree and you're too negative without backing it up. 'You say consistently quality attractions at VRTP yet they added Sky Flyer. You're giving them a pass for adding crap.' That would be an argument; an actual point to support your opinion. I've now made more points for your argument than you have. I might still disagree with you when you're done but at least you'll have made a point. If you're not going to back up your position, I guess agree to disagree is the best we can do. I think you're wrong. That doesn't mean I dislike you or think all your contributions are invalid, but I think your opinion is not supported by facts. The article says 'DW have tentatively said publically something different to what they've been saying. Here's the context as to why they might be saying that, and here's why that's a good thing.' The article doesn't say 'DW says maybe thrill rides in the future. That's dumb'

  23. As much as this forum discusses the negative things Dreamworld is doing, every thread, people will also discuss ways Dreamworld could improve what they are doing, ranging from realistic to wishful thinking to "never going to happen, but imagine if". This forum isn't Anti-Dreamworld, its just against running a park into the ground.

  25. Whilst a strict "thesis level" citation is difficult - FACT - it is unquestionable that the government have put the amusements industry under a microscope. FACT - It is also unquestionable that this microscope was brought upon by the revelations post-TRRR. The Queensland Premier is on record about both of these facts. FACT - It is a matter of public record during the inquest that Dreamworld had previously argued they should be exempt from normal WH&S inspections FACT - It is also a matter of public record that Dreamworld's construction, modification, maintenance and operation of TRRR was well below an acceptable Australian Standard. FACT - Dreamworld's social teams routinely reply to questions about Sky Voyager with answers suggesting 'box ticking' for them to ensure compliance is holding it up. These facts draw a pretty clear inference that regulatory hurt is impacting the industry, and indeed the park, and this hurt was caused by them. Whilst that isn't a fact - its hard for me to see any other possibility, given the number of people on these forums who are involved in the industry (or related works) that seem to have an inside perspective on what is happening.

  26. I think it would be better for you if you untangle those 2 things in your mind. I think it's clouding your judgement and making you unable to take things on their merits. Reality is; Rivals is a really good coaster and is probably one of the biggest things that has helped Movie World get out of the post accident slump. As for 2 years and still getting praise; yeah what of it? It and Superman are really friggen good. No one heaps praise on Doomsday or Batwing because they're filler. Mostly what Ardent has added is also filler. DW got praised for the better part of 2 decades for the Tot/GD combo too, and with good reason. But they never followed it up with anything else amazing, and now those rides have been surpassed, it's very 'The king has no clothes' sort of thing. Reality is; Sky Voyager will probably be pretty good when it opens but it isn't yet. DW also bet a lot on that ride giving them a boost. The ride isn't open and they haven't had that boost. If you want to pretend that the reason it isn't open yet is because they were doing something so innovative, new and ambitious that it was impossible to get it done on time then that's up to you. You could face the reality and admit the truth that the ride is delayed because they are caught in a world of regulatory hurt that they caused themselves by falsifying documents to OH&S before TRRR's accident, but again, you should not be forced to allow reality into your bubble. Finally, you brought up Rivals and Sky Voyager in the uniqueness thread, so here it is, neither of these rides are unique. Rivals is excellent, Sky Voyager will probably be very good when it opens, but neither are unique. If you think Sky Voyager is unique because of a custom film or by virtue of the fact there's no other simulator like it in Austrlia, then Rivals is also unique by virtue of custom layout and being the only coaster of its type in Australia. You can't have one without the other.

  27. Why not just explain why on sky voyager . Just tell the real story unless they are hiding something. Evident they screwed up or have no cash to finish . Fess up. I am thinking they are postponing to next financial yr now. New budget period and have no allocated cash for capex left for period is best case . Worse is no free cashflow in business

  28. You're basically saying "Wouldn't it be great to see LPS close for another 10 years due to noise complains from nearby residents?". That's already happened, it didn't end well. LPS better not try that again.

  29. @CaptainLazerGunsDW has stuffed everything they have set out to do in the last 3 years. In fact DW has spent 30 million dollars with nothing to show for it. What do we have? Dreamworld Express isn't going. Wipeout gone with no replacement. 2 new dirt piles within the park. A new ride that can't open because nobody will sign it off because it's built shit. Tiger Island stage 3 which is now left to overgrow in the corner. Jelly Belly store closed. Dreamworld Cinema closed. (facade destroyed) Eureka promised but removed. Brock's Garage closed. Log Ride trashed. Kevil Hill closed. Parkway closed. @Richardin the future can you please mention Play School Wheel was completed successfully to balance the article out.

  30. this was kind of the crux of what i was getting at. Our office first aid room has a standard door size, but a second, hinged, breakaway panel on the other side that can be opened by sliding a single bolt, painted bright orange and mounted at eye level.

  31. Is there another door to that place? it's an awfully long funnel for people to get in and out at the same time. Imagine, if you will, that a person in a wheelchair (or with a stroller) has just entered to get one of those ride access passes. The wheelchair is effectively blocking the aisle. Now imagine if: A critical emergency happens at the park (such as TRRR) or if an ambulance already in attendance is ready to exit with their patient on a stretcher. Gonna be a fair delay trying to get past the wheelchair \ stroller... Movie World knew this almost 30 years ago - double doors, large entrance foyer. *facepalm*

  34. Shhh! I might have heard a rumour from an anonymous insider. For only a small extra charge of $165 per hour, you'll be able to upgrade your shade and seating experience. The lucky guests who purchase this special experience (to be marketed as "Cabanad 2.0") will be seated on the largest seats in the park (on the floor), and will enjoy the very best shade in any theme park in the world, as well as the supreme luxury of total privacy (they'll be covered by their own private solid metal box). To ensure that guests are able to enjoy this premium experience without being interrupted, the box will be secured with 2 large hardened steel padlocks for the duration of the hire period (available for 1, 2, or 3 hours). The metal boxes will be so solid that no light can penetrate them, and I'm told they'll also be completely soundproof and airtight. To celebrate the opening, one lucky passholder will be chosen at random when they arrive on opening day, to receive a complementary 3 hour box hire! 😷
