Probably not worth it's own thread but question to anyone in the know; is the navigation beacon no longer needed or did it just happen to not be on tonight? First time driving past DW at night for a long time tonight so don't know if this has been a thing for a while?

You are misreading the situation.

There is competition running to win tickets to a re-opening night in a few weeks, on a Friday night. 
There had been no mention of it being open to the GP on the night - may just be VIP, media and comp winners
