Intamin 0
Did any of the rides or attractions at any park in Australia close yesterday because of the sand storm; especially in LPS? By the way I'm going to Dreamworld today, but it already looks like it's cleared up. Edited September 24, 2009 by Gazza
downunder 125
I don't know, even though I work not far from the harbour bridge but it wasn't looking good that morning.
Stef 3
It wasn't a sand storm. It was 100km winds from the west picking up all the red dust etc I went outside and saw everything was covered in a fine red powder and it was like red fog everywhere lol I wouldn't like to be on any fast rides haha come back with a mouth and nose full of red dust haha
Gazza 2,265
Intamin, I hope you don't mind me adding a poll to the topic.
T-bone 675
The news showed some footage of Luna Park, and the rides didn't appear to be operating, but having said that I believe Tuesday and Wednesday is the parks "closed" days, so the rides wouldn't have been operating anyway (unless we are in School Holidays, but I thought they started next week). Stef 3
Yes it was like a thick fog but brown. Its amazing that it streched as far as south west sydney to brisbane! and further
joz 2,794
Holy crap, that poll is like the Iranian election without the civil rights violations. Only 6 voters and 12 of them voted 100%!
little lefty legend 0
apparently theres another one heading our way this weekend
downunder 125
There's no way any of those photos were inaccurately representing the dire situation in Sydney, flaming Godzilla, f***ed up the trains.
Bussy 31
Here are a couple of photos I took from the front of my house at 7am when I go home from work. The first is with the "sunset" setting turned on the other on the standard setting. The third is my car. I had a bit of trouble finding my car when I left work because all of the cars in the car park looked the same. I am hoping the prediction of another dust storm for the weekend are incorrect as I washed my car yesterday and I don't want to have to do it again. Bussy
DonjaiInLA 0
I was driving into the city around the time the storm was at its peak, understandably today I got around to washing my car- came inside and checked facebook and only then read about the predicted dust storm tomorrow. It will be a good week for window washer companies though aye
AlexB 5,467
Have been hit by the dust 4 times now - once earlier in the week in Brisbane, then hit on fri\sat at Coffs coast, then another on the way back north earlier today, and arrived home to a dust blanket on everything we had cleaned from earlier in the week. Our BLUE pool blanket is ORANGE (and it was a hell of a job lifting it off the pool without letting all the scungy water fall into the pool).
Stef 3
^ Lucky you our pool blanket blew off
AlexB 5,467
well - Ours did worse than blowing off, it got blown over itself (twice) so it was a quarter the size of the pool, and floating dead in the middle of it, with a mountain of dust piled into the middle of it.
