  1. Past hour
  2. Today
  3. Speaking of the devil, This is the happiest day of my life!
  4. It does specifically say ‘removal of the lockers system’ in the announcement post, and they have those paid lockers near GL that serve that purpose anyway. They may need that space for whatever solution they plan for Superman, too.
  5. The lockers might end up staying and just be paid lockers for general use.
  6. A practical use case for this would be, if the weather isn’t permitting for the ride to run in the dominantly outdoor section, but it’s favourable enough to run the indoor section, cycling that once or twice instead. Though, given the (hopeful) on-ride storytelling focus, the fact that doing so would necessitate 1 train ops/significantly lower capacity, and the already niche use case even in a more practical scenario (I doubt people’d want to ride/staff it in such conditions anyway), I’d be surprised if such a mode was programmed. At the end of the day, if a second go-around on either half were to be needed for whatever reason (turntable stuck in position, second half valley, etc.), there’s always manual operation/evacs.
  7. Just looking at that GIF, lets say the ride goes up the turntable and around the red part then back up the turntable, would there be an option to make it go to red again and make it loop as long as they want? Would be good for influencers making a "who can stay on the rollercoaster the longest" video.
  8. MW site states SM is down because it broke. I read somewhere MW is just in the planning stage with SM but I can't find where I saw it, so maybe I dreamt it.
  9. Sorry, did you not see the part about it being #movieworldaus’s BIGGEST transformation to date? (They’re transitioning from the best theme park in the region to a barely passable amusement park).
  10. Let me help you out, with a repost of the GIF I made last year. So if you board the forward facing train. Green & blue sections of track = travel forward. Red section = backwards. If you board the backwards facing train. You will experience green & blue sections = backwards. red = forwards. I hope that helps?
  11. That’s why I believe it’s too little, too soon. I don’t think there’ll actually be any significant change ‘til it’s next maintenance period (at least, if they’re actually planning on changing the queue in a meaningful way & not rushing a BandAid fix), & that they’ve just decided to mention it in passing now to bloat their reasons for rides being down across the park.
  12. Is this the part where we are meant to accept that all these ride closure's are ok and if we argue with you then to start saying we are Village haters. its bs MW is a shit hole at the moment and your off your head if you think its acceptable to run a theme park in its current state.
  13. About the Superman queue refurb: Why does it have to be now, not during its maintenance period??? You don’t need two periods to do it!
  14. Switching the discussion from the specific statements about some of the new information that’s going on in their respective threads, is Super Heroes & Super Villains even that much of an event? Iirc, all it did was add/change a parade (which I don’t pay attention to, but I know already includes some Heroes & Villains in its’ base setup anyway due to having walked past it a lot), everything else about the park seemed to be the exact same.
  15. MW socials have put out an announcement with a heap of new "updates" I appreciate the level of transparency from the park, another great step forward.
  16. Well, this certainly changes things. I haven't been following this thread at all, so I was under the false impression that it would be able to do a full rotation.
  17. The turntable can’t rotate anywhere near enough to facilitate this. Disregarding that it’s an inclined turntable on a flat pivot point, meaning doing a complete 180° turn would have it sloped to exit the opposite direction of the continuing track, the catwalks & supports don’t allow it, & the train/turntable track itself would smack straight into the ride building. I feel like there are 2 scenarios: One that is better but negates the choice entirely, and one that is rather unlikely given the plans, but is the only real way that any choice of forwards/backwards would make sense. The first option is the main one, that the ‘choice’ is solely referring to which half of the ride will be travelled backwards, with one half needing to be no matter what. The second, less ideal/likely option is that you choose what half of the ride you’re wanting to go on, dependent on the way the trains are oriented at the time, and not doing both halves in one cycle as was presumed. That seems like an operational nightmare with the station setup that exists (as well as a bit of a letdown) though, so I’d like to assume the former will be true, and the ‘choice’ only exists to offer more rerideability/thrill by choosing to ride the faster section backwards, and not for anyone that is averse to going backwards at all.
  18. Will be interesting to see how they’ll deal with this whilst needing to keep separate load/unload stations, & not changing any of the ride experience. I feel like the most obvious solution is/was the aforementioned double-sided locker/storage bay either right before boarding or on the station platform, but either of those solutions have their own problems when not changing anything about the way the ride loads & unloads, as well as needing pretty significant queue route/building changes that only seemed within the realm of possibility if done alongside an eventual significant ride overhaul. Whatever it is, I hope that it’s not a short-term, BandAid solution to tide it over ‘til that time (hopefully) arrives, or they decide that it’s not worth doing.
  19. I speculate both trains run forwards through the first block section. "Forwards" train 180s on the turntable, switch-tracks, and completes second block section forwards. 180 on turntable again, switch-track, third block section forwards, enters station forwards. "Backwards" train doesn't 180 on the turntable, switch-tracks, and completes second block section backwards. Doesn't 180 on turntable again, switch-track, third block section forwards, enters station forwards. Unless the "backwards" train starts/finishes backwards, and completes one rotation on the turntable (either second or third pass-through). Idfk.
  20. RPReplay_Final1714718949.mov Joke aside, at least they’re finally going to repaint the rest of DCR, and the Superman queue news is interesting, if perhaps sharing too little too soon to excuse some of the issues they’re having.
  21. Why must we always look at the negative and just appreciate the park is sharing updates.
  22. Came straight here to post this and got beaten to the punch! (Link for if you're feeling lazy). So, my question is, how is this going to work?
  23. Biggest transformation to date. 🤣🤣🤣 Maybe biggest ride closure to date. I wouldn't currently go to MW, if it was free.
  24. Unfortunately organisations that provide these documents don't provide them for free, and the average joe who isn't building amusement devices isn't going to fork out $249 to satisfy curiosity. If anyone has a copy, (i'm assuming section 2.8 would be the relevant section here) feel free to post it. It forms part of AS 3533.4.3 and is also referenced to as part of an amusement devices class requirements. It was initially permitted, you're not mistaken. Either someone didn't read the manual correctly and it was pointed out later, or a later audit \ review identified it as an issue and the procedure changed. It was due to a safety bulletin issued by Mack in 2020 that resulted in the change of the harness inspection wording in their SOP's. Firm push/pull inspection of the lap-bar/restraint without the insertion of the seat belt to occur first to insure the cylinder test is successful. Followed by the insertion of the seat belt and final inspection to ensure the seat belt is fasten and pulled tight. Exactly what is outlined in the excerpt above from Bluefire, however this is not original copy. In addition to the SOP change, as part of the safety bulletin park engineering were required to conduct additional immediate inspections of the cylinders due to a risk of failing solenoids. MW operations choose to insert the seat belt themselves to ensure the lap-bar/restraint without the seat belt occurs correctly. It would be rather counter productive to inspect all restraints, ask guests to then insert their own seat belt and conduct another full train inspection for the seat belts. In the same year (2020), Mack introduced the option of the RFID operator scanner as an additional measure to ensure that an individual inspection of each restraint is registered. DW adopted this solution on ST. It was never stated however it is believed that a near miss incident occurred overseas that prompted the safety bulletin.
  25. And for those who don’t read the whole post, it says superman lockers are being removed
