  1. I don't know how long the lease is for. All I know is in 2018 the 1958 ski show at The Ski Gardens is still better than Jet Stunt Extreme.

  2. If I rock up an hour late to a meeting, the expectation is that i'll let the organiser know in advance - it's when communication is sparse about my tardiness, why i'm late or when i'll finally rock up is when people get annoyed, and that's exactly what's happening here with VRTP's communication. Luckily @Richard has a good rapport with the team there and was able to snag that interview with the CEO who gave us a timeline as to when they'd go to work on Scooby Doo, otherwise we'd know nothing at all.

  3. You used to be able to buy a decent bag of mixed lollies at the corner store for $1 too, but I don’t see you berating the manager at Coles for charging you $3.50 for a half filled bag of Allen’s snakes. Prices go up... $139 for 4 parks = under $35 per park for a year of access. Visit each park 4 times a year (or as an average - could be 8 times each to MW & SW) and that’s under $9 a visit. Parks are open 7 hours a day - so you are paying $1.20 an hour for entertainment. If that’s “highway robbery” then I’m Elmur Fudd...

  4. You’re joking about the highway robbery bit, right? Remember when it was $350 for a season pass 10-15 years ago? Imagine if they’d gone up with the price of inflation. We pay $150 minimum for a season pass to Adventure World for a 7 month season. If you go 3 times you’ve already saved on the price of gate entry. If you go once a week, it’s cheaper than visiting your local pool. If you want to see what a real season pass costs, research Disney and Universal.

  5. $139 is a bargain. $199 would even be value for a local. Yes it’s a heap up front for a family - and maybe they’ll introduce monthly payments again on day - but it’s still terrific value

  6. ... .Arr-K . . Enough of the bullshit Village! The Fans have asked you politely, frankly for too long now and yet still u offer no answer? Wtf are U?! Disney?! Hmm... Years have passed now since disecting the flagship MW Scooby ride that's barely a Dog's breakfast of a rubbished Neighbour down the road *cough DW*. Fess up and for FS FIX the fucking ride already! Maybe someone here can shed some light @Gazza, @Richard? Wtf is happening to our once great Park? WWF closed for almost a year, Villains area falling to pieces, Kid's area forgotten, Park entry looks tired and crap, oh I can go on... Amazing how much we criticize DW and SW huh

  9. Bring back the $200-300 for one park passes! Let's see all the compulsive whingers come out of the woodwork then. $140 is cheap. If you can't afford that then maybe pass ownership isn't for you.

  11. Strip the themeing and you have a basic and boring mad mouse coaster with a weird slow section of track. The themeing is what helps make that ride something great and is what has helped the ride become a “legend” as such. Mention Movie World to anyone that doesn’t regularly visit the parks, and they will probably recall the Scooby ride and Superman. The ride is in an extremely poor state right now, and for a park that calls itself Hollywood on the Gold Coast, it’s certainly lacking anything that makes it memorable.

  12. $139 for 3 great parks for a year? Incredible value. It’s just been too low for too long and it’ll probably take people a while to adjust.

  13. $139 for a pass is highway robbery. people with families like 4 or 5 kids can't afford that when they have to buy 5 passes. and they wonder why they are losing $

  14. Why dont you? The complaints are pretty spot on. They started doing some restorative works a few years ago, what with facade work and new toilet blocks and stuff, but thats all stopped instead of continuing. So it does look run down. The kids area is a joke compared to every other park, in perhaps australia. Old fair style rides, nothing for kids that arent tall enough or brave enough for the thrill rides. Its in desperate need of renovation and seems to be overlooked every year.

  16. Actually some of us have a pretty good idea of what goes on behind the scenes. Frankly near enough is just not good enough and from personal experience I know they can be doing better. And I am most definitely not alone in that opinion either.

  17. Yeah there's about a 50 seat difference between the theatres so Canada you're spot on that Canada's auditorium was slightly larger, however Dreamworld also have some breathing space (lobby, the now closed Boost Juice shop etc.) to fit queues etc. Interesting thought - folks just queued for Imax sessions out in Main Street, although I don't see this ride eating up hundreds of people at a time. Not even close. Here's a great comparison: (Being real super nerdy, Dreamworld's IMAX was the first in the country and had an old school GT projector.) The Dreamworld Cinema was originally an IMAX Theatre. If you've never been to an IMAX Theatre showing something on its unique 15/70mm film, you're missing out. Still to this day nothing comes close. Back in the day, traditional IMAX (by comparison to a traditional theatre) meant a giant picture in a deep auditorium, 15/70mm film (compared to 35mm film that also contained the audio waveform on it) & impressively powerful sound inside the theatre. However, because of the insane costs to running IMAX theatres, from the physical cost of huge platters of film, or the licensing fees to the super delicate consumables like lamps, the landscape of what makes IMAX has changed over the years, especially with digital IMAX (2x 4K dithered laser projects which is still arguably not as good as 15/70mm showings) superseding or taking over the majority of IMAX showings in cinemas globally. If you're in Melbourne, go to the IMAX theatre there and see something on film. It's just incredible. Quoting John,

  19. Strip Scooby Doo of all it's thematic elements and I still think it's a really fun coaster, in fact it's in my top 3 for Movie World rides. The raw ride itself is thrilling and has an awesomely long ride time which makes it epic even without the theming. Have a think.. if you had never been on the ride before and went on it for the first time you would probably be more worried about the sharp corners and drops rather than the effects. And this is the problem. We all know that ALL of our Gold Coast theme parks have seen better days. But if you had never visited any before, I'm sure you could have an awesome time at all of them. Apart from Sea World. Sea World is the problem. Not Movie World, Dreamworld, WhiteWater World or WetNWild. While all of them could have some touch ups, Sea World is bare. If you're not a kid, you won't be able to have a good time at Sea World. At least I couldn't. 2 thrill rides, 0 family rides, and a few kids rides. This is our problem! I know, and we all know that both Village and Ardent have a lot of work to do, however Movie World is not far off to become the ultimate theme park. I really don't see the need to complain about it.
