  2. I agree not everyone needs to like vanilla ice cream, but there's a little cluster of people who seem to think vanilla ice cream is dogshit ice cream and anyone who isn't denouncing is biased, while meanwhile pledging an almost religious devotion to Licorice ice cream, which they also used to hate so much that they made a Facebook page to point out how crappy it is. That changed suddenly when someone from the Licorice ice cream company brought them in and said 'we're trying to improve the flavour, honest' (and I'm sure that person is). They then start trying to start a Facebook war with managers of the vanilla ice cream makers, got called out, and instead of pulling their heads in resorted to making snide comments at every opportunity when the vanilla ice cream makers do ANYTHING. Meanwhile rappa says 'I don't like licorice ice cream and here's why' and people lose their minds. Personally I don't much like licorice ice cream and vanilla ice cream can be a bit bland and boring, but in my opinion vanilla ice cream is in balance, the better of the 2 if you must compare them. If the Licorice ice cream company actually improves the flavor like apparently they trying to, I'd be delighted that they'd confounded expectations and made something good. Until then I haven't really seen anything that makes me change my view on them.

  5. Bahahahahaha. Oh boy, we got called out? When? For what? Also, no the reason we keep making fun Jabs at "Vanilla management" is because of their history of being an unwarranted dick trying to sue/threaten people for calling them on their shit. Liquorice: Hey, we are trying to improve the flavour, have you guys, who like the flavour, got any ideas on how to improve it? Rappa: Hey, fuck you, why didn't you do this years ago? Liquorice: Well, yeah, we only just got here? Takes more than 5 minutes. As you can see, we've already secured one chunk of our future. Rappa: Yeah well fuck you for trying. Vanilla: Hey, we're selling the place, we are actively denying a pandemic and then attacking people who say otherwise, oh and we're open but nothing inside is open, give us money. Rappa: Oh man, you're a world class industry ice cream factory that produces ice cream made from the Queens personal vanilla beans. I can't wait to suckle on your sweet sweet ice cream. Just gets a little annoying when nothing good can be said about DW without it being "biased" Whereas Village could attack the government demanding they be allowed open so they can make that extra dollar on the sale and everyone ignores the fact that they are literally putting their profits before people. Isn't that why everyone is so salty about the park up the road? Anyway, the whole forum is a biased clusterfuck, what else is new? It's not like anyone here is actively denying being biased about certain parks. It's also definitely not secret that the bias around here has a correlation with employment, how the park treats you, where you get your secret info from, etc.

  6. To be fair anything would have to be better than Carnivale at Sea World. That was the biggest massacre of what was a great event at Movie World ever. Hopefully this is the ground up tailor made event Sea World needs.

  7. Thanks for that report, but I didn’t realise the Stingray at Dreamworld was such a loved attraction.

  9. I think the point being made is Dreamworld should have a future. Ardent should not.

Structural changes, funding injection sees Gold Coast theme park future secured Both Ardent Leisure and Village Roadshow have each announced an injection of $70 million to give both operators a degree of certainty, while the latter moves towards taking the company private. 13. Great idea for SeaWorld. The idea being that when fright nights returns it will be for the teens and adults and spooky nights is the family kiddie friendly version. No scary mazes but lots of spooky sights and activities

  14. I didn't think this thread could get any weirder, thanks @joz & @Jdude95 for the laughs 😂. Personally I prefer gelato over ice-cream. @AlexB are you still confused 😕 😂😅

  17. So I am not allowed to be biased at all?. Everyone does not have to like the name Vanilla icecream you know just to keep mates happy.

  18. I think 'cahoots' is probably overdoing it. Why? Rappa makes no secret of his bias. Why should anyone else pretend anything?

  19. before any UNsecured creditors, yes. But a secured liability gives the debtor the right to take possession of the secured asset before any dividends are paid.

  20. Aren't worker entitlements protected under law, before any secured creditors (I think I read something during the Virgin Aus collapse that said that)?

  21. The government probably also understands that this is a major tourism draw to the state. If the worst did happen and they took control of they park, they would understand its value as a whole instead of Wonderlanding it and trying to pull a firesale to recoup funds.

  22. Of course no-one is expecting them to repay the loan in three years, it is just the point at which it will get refinanced at a different interest rate. If that fails, it is secured so the state government would essentially take possession of the business while every other creditor would likely lose their money owed to them. So really what has happened is the state government has secured the long term future of Dreamworld as if it goes badly they'll be in control of the major decision making, ie who it gets sold to or potentially directly operated. The government is unlikely to lose money on these deals and even then they could justify it with keeping these businesses operating in the intervening period which the private sector cannot justify in the same way.

  23. They are handed government money to keep about 1000 people employed, along with all those funds that filter down through the supply chain that keep probably hundreds of businesses turning over. If you cant see its in the states best interest to keep a significant employer in business, paying their bills, paying for goods and services, money that ultimately flows back to the government, and instead focus on a miniscule maximum potential fine of 4.5 million; Youre either blind with rage or a complete moron.

  24. Yeah, fuck that company for accepting help to re-open the park and continue to improve it... I got a $7.50 parking ticket the other day. It's fine though, the Government thought it was unfair and I got the $750 COVID supplement the day after so that I could pay my parking ticket

  25. The 'break it up and sell off the pieces' mentality isn't the status quo anymore. As @CaptainLazerGuns suggested above, its more a case of acquiring something that is liquid capital poor, leverage against the asset to obtain financing to improve the product, and then flip it for more than you bought it for. There are pump-and-dump book shuffling, such as we saw with Dick Smith, where they over extended the value by some creative bookkeeping, but due to the public nature of that particular implosion, that method won't escape due diligence checks from buyers in the future. Anyone claiming that Ardent received funds of $70 Million simply because they're potentially going to be fined $4.5 Million needs to go back to third grade mathematics.

  26. Much as this seems to be your own personal crusade now (we get it), the reality is you can mount that same argument no matter what income the park gets. It's a closed system, and the fine, frankly, is irrelevant in the whole sad tale.

  27. Driving past DW this morning I noticed that all staff are having to park on the eastern side of the carpark (closed part to the highway). Some areas of the carpark have been roped off. This week the bucket for the Pipeline Plunge has finally returned too

  28. But I feel like that pathway is essential for connecting the park. Without it, this area still remains a dead end

  29. I visited WnW this morning and here is a look at the scales that were talked about earlier in the year Extensive maintenance work is happening on Calypso Beach And while I didn't get a photo of it, the shade sail has returned to the Black Hole and it appears all works on the structure are now complete

  30. Looking at all the drawings closer, Interestingly, it’s proposed that the train track path will be altered slightly to go closer to the Giant Drop. From what I can tell on these drawings, the path through the coasters site is there anymore, unless I’m missing it? I don’t mind the snake skeleton ‘themed’ roof structure over the path the ride building. It’s a shame that the station building couldn’t have had theming elements added in. I’d like to see it match the aesthetic style of the BuzzSaw station. I also like the arch/entry for the area, but I think it will look out of place between SkyVoyager and Fairytale Treasures. Pink, rust and then white. That could be an eye sore. Maybe it should have been pushed back further into the land? And will they put the coasters name on the sign or the lands name?

  31. Also, it says on the final drawing, “wait space for 3 trains”

  32. Although that may be the case, if they really cared, they could work with the manufacturer on doing an additional maintenance period for one year in order to realign themselves onto a different cycle.
