  2. I know this might not seem important, but Sea World just put in a new Vortex sign installed on there billboard, but instead of saying it's opening on Easter, it now says "December" https://www.instagram.com/p/CG9BH6OpUc-/ And also, today is Sea World's 49th Anniversary.

  3. I get it. 20-year-old ride (actually older than 20 years) that is a carnival ride is shit. Maybe you haven't seen the history of the park tho. Luna Park has always had carnival rides or rides that closely resembled them. That's the character of the park. This ain't a theme park. Its an amusement park. Completely different beast. Sure having the almost same ride lineup for almost 10-12 years was annoying but heck the park existed. These rides removals and future ones come down to age. I'll agree with you on that. But they also come down to the fact the park is tiny. You can't just slam in the world latest and greatest euro fighter coaster. It would not be a great fit honestly. The park is family-friendly, the first date friendly. It is not a thrill ride destination. It's a fun destination. So while many look at this park and go "what the hell are they doing they got the best views of Sydney harbour" it ain't about that. Go through home movies on youtube of LPS, from the '70-'80s if you search hard enough. Youll sees what I mean. I take my hat off to LPS. Its pure survival is amazing. You say "tired travelling rides sitting on chocks for 20 years!". I say well done. Well done LPS. You have made these ones of a kind rides last much longer than most parks around the world. UFO, Ranger & Trokia (Tumble Bug) where indeed very rare rides to have within Australia. Who knows what rides we will get. You know what tho. That's the fun part. Not knowing. HUSS flying saucer left the park and its former place sat dormant for what felt an eternity until Volare turned up. It wasn't what anyone was expecting but its worked wonders. It also suits the park really well. So I've got faith the management team will make the right calls.

  4. Yeah I’m specifically talking about the sections of track at Dreamworld that hadn’t been painted. There’s no major foundation issues at Jet Rescue. It was clarified here that what was seen was just some mortar removal to access the hold down bolts and release a piece of track. Plausible scenario (I know nothing from the park, this is pure speculation on my part): Section it track was found to have an issue. Requires replacement - pretty common around the world. Fabrication facility in Europe is shut because of Covid. Park is waiting for new track but doesn’t have ETA so has removed reopening date.

  5. Maybe they are going to dismantle it and send it to a real theme park as a threat to the Government to get them to open the borders?

  6. MW is going to be back to only having 3 major rides open in November

  7. Must have just reused the original vortex signs that said opening this December.

  8. The grand Gorge falls was always planned for a drop floor entrance for slide, as you can see in the picture.

  9. I'm trying to say that people have a opportunity now to ask, what is next? People are allowed to think about what rides they want to see at Luna Park. It might be even helpful so that the management at Luna Park know what people would like to see. I believe at this time. It is not worth it to buy new rides at this time due to the pandemic. I think these rides have gone is because it is too expensive to keep maintaining them for any longer. I think that if the Spider breaks down again, it will be the end of the Spider. And that would be the end of the HUSS era for Luna Park Sydney. After the pandemic (especially when big venues happen more often) (and no COVID Safe regulations). Then we should start getting permeant rides in. I think people would love most is a permeant version of Pirates Revenge and Mystery Manor. And a roller coaster of some sort. I would like to see for the first ride (to replace the Moon Ranger) to be a Mega Disk'O themed and named to the old Whirler Ride. And then there are numerous options after that. Maybe a Eurofighter? I don't know, there are too many options.

  10. You are not allowed to speculate. If the park has said nothing, you must not assume anything at all and just accept being a mushroom - it is inevitable!

  11. I agree. The park hasn't said anything, so we can just make up and assume what we want and that's the park's fault.

  12. Definitely a thing. Or in Universals case “can you just knock us up another Hulk coaster so we can replace all the track”

  13. Huh? How have I missed this? Any more details?

  14. Jet rescue hasn't been completely repainted, with new signage being installed for a new theme that was trademarked many months ago. I think its clear to everyone what Dreamworld's plans are with the coaster, because between Parkz digging up trademarks, the obvious, ongoing work on site with workmen regularly seen, and progress obvious from the carpark, and sneaky signage and theming photos from guests in-park - we've got a fair idea on the end game. Jet Rescue on the other hand has gone down for maintenance, repeatedly had its maintenance dates extended and eventually deleted entirely, photos of guests in park show what has to be fairly significant track\foundation work, and nobody from VRTP has said boo about the current situation. It's hardly 'the same' situation. And like with many things - an open, simple explanation of the current situation from the park satisfies, and an obscure, silent park lets the rumor mill run rampant.

  15. Didn’t someone suggest Sidewinder was done for because of some paint/track evidence the other day and many were quick to say “doesn’t mean anything”. But now Jet Rescue has the same and we’re convinced that’s the end for the ride?

  16. Very little in the smaller end of moving lights still using lamps now if any. You really have to be looking at things 1200w (or equivalent output) and above to still have new fittings using lamps, and even those are rare. Everything in Scooby is LED

  17. Awesome!! This appears to be only half of the original Grand Gorge Falls project however?

  19. Erm.... it says so right there in your post: I'll guarantee you every theme park on the gold coast has an archive of old negatives, slides, photo albums, plans, drawings, concepts, artwork, etc etc. When wonderland closed, nobody had any use for them anymore, except Wonderbuzz and the Wonderland History site. Wonderbuzz spent literal months digitising every negative, every slide, scanning documents and plans to create much of what the Wonderland History page is today.

  24. The lower section to the right looks to have 3 maybe 4 tracks running back in, going to make for a lot of cross overs, head chops and some cool twists, this thing may have the potential to be one of the best family woodies made 🤷‍♂️

  25. All very good points @Slick - i for one am just happy Village is actually doing construction updates rather than pretending "nothing is behind the curtain" as they did with rivals. TO add to that, this also builds on the 'our theme parks are your theme parks' hook by reusing Kirby as the face of the 'family' company as we've discussed recently. This time of course he introduces himself and his position instead of a hurriedly added subtitle like the last video too. Unkle Clark will be a fairweather indication for village as they transition to the new owners, and the consistency is reassuring. (I just wish Clark didn't look like he'd snorted a bag of cocaine before the shoot - how much powder is on his face? Did he just come from shooting a fright nights video with ghost makeup or what?)

  26. I'd argue too high, tbh. It's not the 90's anymore, and the marketing text-book that phrase came from should be shot and buried. It's not like Aussies don't travel or don't have access to the internet. They know what Disney parks look like. And so "The greatest family coaster in the world" would sound like BS to anyone, and is enough of a big stretch that most people would just keep scrolling or click away. "Australia's fastest and tallest ever wooden roller-coaster" is far more effective as a hook - interstate travellers would think of Bush Beast or Scenic Railway and have some sense of nostalgia and/or reference point which would get people's attention and intrigue to want to find more information, from there you just need to create new comms on likely consumer touch-points e.g. "will it be rough" "will it be boring" "can my kids ride" "how big is this coaster compared to other coaters" etc. etc. etc.

  27. Nah it's the same. Just because there's a retheme doesn't change it hey.

  28. Well it’s official unfortunately!! Tumblebug, the 2nd last Huss ride at LPS, a Huss Troika model, is being dismantled and removed from the park. A unique ride in Australia, hopefully this is replaced with a similar family friendly ride that still delivers a good amount of thrills. RIP Tumblebug
