  1. Not much of a prediction, Dreamworld closes everyday at 5pm!

  2. All Some interesting points been raised since my last visit here. There is an old saying "you cant please all of the people, all of the time" I'm talking about fast pass. Everyone is entitled to an opinion of course. Because the Kraken has proven so popular, the queues have been longer than expected. When you have a theoretical throughput of 600 guests per hour, you kind of expect/assume, that the queues wouldn't often blow out over 40 minutes. That was not the case during the hot peak months. The fast pass option is a consumer choice option and is limited deliberately (believe me, we could sell twice as many, at a higher price and bank the cash thank you very much!) so as to not upset the balance of emotions of the guest experience. Consider on a busy day, 230 Fast pass users and 5k other guests, most of whom, want to ride Kraken and don't want to queue for more than half an hour on a hot day.... right? So imagine if your in that non fast pass purchased group (and remember, they may have wanted one but they had sold out?) you've been queuing to get your first (and probably only ride of the day) and you see a fast pass guest pass you 4, maybe five times, in the time you've been waiting? We have observed this frequently and if I were that guest in the main queue line, that's just going to anger me even more. Our social media is littered with feedback based on the Kraken situation as it was. We feel that 2 rides jumped queue is fair and if you have sense you will re-visit the ride later in the day when queues have died down and ride again if that's what you want to do. We do have to react to imbalances, sometimes it is dynamic and I make no apology for changing the policy mid season. What difference does it make if we make that change now instead of September? the only difference is we are reacting to the majority feedback to try and redress the balance to be a little bit more fair. Next two rides will have high capacity. Other changes to the park layout may also be designed to address capacity issues. I think we do need to be cognoscente of the changing global economy and how that affects us over the next few years. So that's a watch and wait situation regarding MI4/5 at this stage. We all want to see continuous improvement however we have to work within our financial constraints and keep testing the market place to see where the growth potentially tapers away. Aside from that we will continue to improve our theming, landscaping, infrastructure and commercial opportunities in food and beverage and retail as well as constantly driving the highest possible service standards through our awesome team. Chat soon and thanks everyone for your support. Mark

  3. ^I've seen the POV before - legend has it that it was supposed to be most traumatic kids ride ever. The video bit is blocked at work for me. Another press release while I was sleep walking: Junior Driving School will be re-themed to Mad Max.

  4. Loop it around a monorail between the park and the resort and you may be onto a winner there!

  5. Despite dmh being new to the forums, I 100% believe the part about WWF. It's closed 13th June to 28th August which is a large amount of time to get a mountain repaint and special effects overhaul done. I'm hoping they introduce some new ones, and put them in the places where some have been removed and are now kind of dead space. And September opening and it not being a roller coaster I believe. Since they are opening a coaster as well, I'm going to say that not long as this new ride opens, they will begin construction for the coaster, which will use the sound stage (for the queue and station) and then the main section of track would be behind it and it would open in either September or December (depending on how big of project it is) next year.

  6. Welcome dmh and please respect our hesitation in taking your word 100% as a first time poster here. out of interest, how does a ride have a 88% theming? Where's the other 12%. 88% western, 12% not themed at all?? its a churro tower, but the top of it is missing the sugar?

  7. I can confirm officially the NEW attraction is opening in September & is NOT a roller coaster but affiliated with intimin & definitely not S&S. The new ride will have 88% theming in the western area and be a High Guest Turnover High Thrill Ride. I can also confirm WWF is getting a mountain repaint in June 2016 & complete special effect overhaul!

  8. Scooby was an okay replacement, although Gremlins appealed more to those people not seeking thrills. There's probably a lot of visitors to the park who got more out of Movie World in 1999 than they would now. I think many Australian parks are now just ordering out of the Zamperla catalogue than coming up with their own rides.

  9. That's what made me feel like I was in a Movie World in the 90s. Actors as part of the rides/attractions. As seen in the video on Page 15, Gremlins ride had three: One Actor to welcome you to the viewing cinemas, one to save you and get you to the ride and the one dressed as a cop at the unload point (ride op sometimes acted too - my toddler brother was upset at the Gremlins and the ride op said "we'll get you to safety kid!"). Most of us know LTRR had a minimum of 3 (ride ops acted too). For example, Police Academy recruiting audience members before the show began. My mum was approached by "Captain Harris" (wearing a microphone) who asked her: "Ma'am, are you enjoying your visit to the Police Academy?" "Yes." [chuckle] "Not for long. Proctor! Recruit this woman!" One part of the Park I terribly miss, and the last time we spoke about this on the forum was what prompted me to post after returning to Parkz. The video on P15 has in the final few seconds the walkway, confirming what @djrappasaid, the unload/container/cop car area was to the south of the roller door, where the generator is now (behind the 2 men in the photos on P14). You can clearly see the discoloured corrugated iron wall covering the old Gremlins exit.

  10. As great as some of the great work DW has done of late, the train ride this afternoon served as a great illustration of closed attractions. The 'presenter' over the speakers spent all their time talking about what was closed. 3:30ish boarded at Central Station Stop 1: 'Billabong' "this stop is where you'll find our newly refurbished restaurant, which is currently closed for the day, but is open 11:30-2 daily'. This is also home ABC4Kids world which is great for the kids to run around, but has closed for today, as had Motorcoaster. These rides close at 3:30 mon-fri. Hopefully you can come back another day and take advantage of these attractions." Stop 2: 'Corroboree' "Australian & indigenous animals speil. This is also the best stop for our Vintage Cars attraction, which is currently closed due to off peak season. The ride only operates on Weekends Stop 3: 'Rocky Hollow' "this is the stop for one of DW's original attractions, the RHLR. The ride is currently closed for scheduled maintenance." on the last stretch, she announced "just a friendly reminder of our current attractions closures" then listed Wipeout, Big Red Car, Vintage Cars & RHLR, ABC4Kids & MDMC again, and then repeated them, again. "Sorry for the inconvenience caused". Wow.

  11. I know at least 1 theater from Gremlins is used as the "Scooby Training Room". Located to the left of the entry, through a door, and at the end of a hall to the right. I've been in the room on 2 days. Whn e I had a seasonal job on my first day and during a Future of Fun event.

  12. Now that's the sort of thing I'm looking for!

  13. Scooby was definitely a worthy replacement for Gremlins, but Gremlins was still way more immersive than most additions of late. I'd say I preferred the experience of Gremlins far more than, for example, Justice League.

  14. I don't want to derail the topic too much but the building was always there, I think the only extension was at the lift section of the dark ride You can see in the photo below the gremlins entrance is hidden behind the castle facade, I remember looking a while ago and could still see the orange and yellow backing wall http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/528-Scooby-Doo_Spooky_Coaster_Construction/gallery/sort/newest/category/construction/location/ride-248/offset/13 Ill have to head down soon and check out all this construction

  15. And if at the half way point of the slide you can get up and walk through a dark room before continuing the slide, push might just one day visit the park.
