King Claw started preliminary testing last night. Don’t think it reached full height or speed, but testing is underway. The figures eyes were lit up and there is also lighting on each seat.

Can someone explain the construction fence photos? How is that relevant to King Claw? Reminds me of the old Windows desktop backgrounds. Tacky

I got to see this beast in action tonight. The gondola is now spinning and they were testing a spotlight to light the face up more which looked great. I just wish the face was a lot bigger.

Is it just me or does that head on the side look incredibly tiny when you consider how big the supports are and the fact it is called King Claw? I would have thought something at least twice the size or bigger......

The sizing defiantly doesn't live up to the name.

Intamin would have the final say on the size and weight of anything attached to the structure.

They would have designed specific mounting points with appropriate specs considering things like forces from wind, clearances around the motor/catwalk for maintenance.

Tigeren's is around the same size (possibly a little bit bigger), but it might just be a bit less flat and has matching paint on the structure to make it feel bigger.

I think most people are going to be looking at the gondola though, and the lighting on that looks great.

On my visit yesterday I noticed test dummies have now been added. Things are progressing very quickly. The queue now has railings, along with further electrical work being installed (lights, fans, speakers etc). Can’t wait to see this beast finished!

Some updates from today. It’s coming along nicely! 

 

Also, the park was unbelievably busy today and the crowds were some of the biggest I’ve seen in years. The car park was literally full, with people resorting to parking on the grass at the rear of the car park and along nearby roads. By comparison, Movie World’s car park wasn’t even half full when I popped in during the afternoon.

That’s great to hear and I don’t think it has been like that in almost a decade. How did that make the park feel and what were the wait times like?

The park had a great atmosphere, it was really buzzing. Wait times varied quite a lot for each attraction, but in general the operations were fantastic. Jungle Rush in particular was a standout. It had an advertised 50min wait, though it only took me around 35mins to get on. They were getting the trains loaded up and dispatched extremely quickly. It was a similar story with Steel Taipan, the staff were doing a great job trying to get the trains out as fast as possible. I think the attraction with the slowest ops and longest wait time in the park was the Dreamworld Express. For some reason, it was taking almost 10mins to load/unload guests at both stations. It would definitely be good if the park could look at speeding that up a bit.
