Not posted as propaganda or political in nature @djrappa

was posted to a GC community FB page this morning, and as relative to our parks, I posted it. Was not a rally cry for protestors, and surely my firmly tongue in cheek statements about free bbqs and it being a hoot were clear evidence of that.

Your post didn't come off as simply quoting a post and being tongue in cheek but rather as your opinion and pushing the issue, at least to me. Apologies if that wasn't the case.

And yes I feel any of these types of union messages are indeed propaganda, they rarely show balanced factual information and really only serve the primary purpose of my unions, and that is to make money for the union. I'm sure about 5 people will show up for a free snag and it will all get rained out anyway. A shame really.

Best thing for the theme park workers would be to "Support Our Parks" , not make them look bad and people feel shamed for visiting.

Fair enough, certainly wasn't the case though. Should have made it more clear.  Not my issue to push, I'm not in the industry and as a retail manager I have enough problems dealing with the Retail Workers Union without worrying about other unions and industries pay conditions

We might need a whole topic on unions within Aussie theme parks.

(Ben Swan, the state secretary of the Australian Workers’ Union, which had been raising ride operation issues with Dreamworld for more than a year before the October tragedy, said the system of self-regulation was not good enough.

Mr Swan said it was worrying that there had been two evacuations at Movie World after clearance had been given following safety inspections of all amusement rides late last year. “The view of my union is the state government needs to start giving very serious consideration for a specialist unit that is appropriately resourced to actively monitor and inspect safety standards in what is one of Queensland’s most important industries,’’ he said.)

So what that says to me is this guy has zero understanding of how the industry that his union supposedly represents actually works.

And no I don't feel it warrants its own topic, if it does it's certainly a chit chat topic. IMO union issues and working rights have nothing to do with theme park discussion topics which are meant to be about the parks themselves and our enjoyment of them.

I think it's a perfectly valid "theme park discussion topic". Many people that work for VRTP are not happy with things unions could help advocate for, all of us ethusiests that visit could not without the large number of employees.

...Which would be fine if the unions weren't six months late to the discussion & were doing their job of representing people.

I just had a look at Dreamworlds website and for some reason Buzzsaw is only open 1:00pm-5:00pm? Dose anyone know why?

Also the claw, giant Drop and Dreamworld Express open at 11:30 on weekdays

I'd say its to keep the cost of the energy bill down. If not enough people are going, then whats the point in opening rides in non-peak hours? It just wastes money.

Ok.mi went to Dreamworld the other day and it was the busiest day yet. I had to wait 30mins for claw and 2hrs for Tower Of terror

Well that's good! One of my friends and I are going to Dreamworld this Saturday, so I'll give you some updates on rides and all that jazz. Nice to meet you by the way :)

If I remember right, the old queue setup had it that it was 90 minutes from the entrance to the skull, but since they terminate the queue at the top of the final stairs now, it would spill out partway down the outside portion of the queue. A two-hour queue would definitely go past the entrance to the ride - @Rollercoaster_Lover I'm really getting sick of these troll posts that you're making, even if it was a long queue, 2 hours is absurd and an unneeded exaggeration.

What day, exactly? Every day I've been over the past fortnight (which has been a few times) hasn't had queue times that long. If anything it's been practically walk on, since it's off-peak atm.

In fact last week we had to wait about 10 minutes for the minimum amount of people for ToTII to accumulate, just so we could ride it.

So I'd love to know exactly what day you speak of when every man and his dog apparently attended the park?

@Rollercoaster_Lover I was there on the same day and waited 15mins Max and the least I waited was 5mins unless it had broken down (which I doubt they let you sit in it for 80mins) than I smell bullshit. Oh and I would consider that day to still be in there peak as it was last weekend for school holidays for nsw.

Not being mean but please read over what you post before you post it.
