The fact that the doors aren't centred makes my OCD twitch.3 points

That's a nice patronising tone you've got there. I was seeking a bit of feedback as to whether this was something to report to dreamworld or not. I'm not an engineering expert. Besides the Gold Coast Bulletin would not write an article on one singular post on a forum. It's here-say with absolutely no validity to my claims, especially without speaking to me first. And let me clarify: I love dreamworld and I hope it recovers, I think it will be fine. I've shown my financial support, that's what matters to a business. Having said that I'm not going to idly stand by and not report an issue if I thought there was one there. I really had no idea if what happened even was an issue, thus the post. Read it again, you've missed the entire point of this thread.3 points

You can now enter through this door, but it just takes you to the stores either side of the door View of the construction from inside the store2 points

willco. Try not to take offence. Essentially everyone does worry about machines ( Rides are machines ) when they don't do what they should. I get the whole not wanting to waste time, firstly your time and the parks time. But looking at it from both sides of the fence they really do like to know about those things. Essentially a ride operator drives blind so to speak. A control panel and computer can tell only so much. I hope the pass gets a decent work out tho and you enjoy riding those great rides.2 points

Worth noting the 2018 VIP Pass is now available, $99.99 direct from ThemeParks.com.au Dreamworld is also offering a 5 day sale on their summer season pass at $64 Adults and $44 Children/Pensioners for entry until Dec 24 2017.1 point

It's nice that LPS continues to survive and do well. I kinda thought they got it when they started adding temporary rides for Summer season, and adding things as budget permitted. This is the first thing from them in a while where rather than thinking 'oh good they're treading water' you think 'Oh cool I can't wait to see what they do next!'. Would love to see what their results have been like, but the success of the small/medium sized parks in Australia does bode well for the future. Does make Luna Park Melbourne seem like more of a shithole than it already is though.1 point

Wipeout maintenance is underway Fencing for BW and JL has been moved further out, and now has a sign to show that GL is still open The MW department store is already looking much better, and good to see they are doing the whole facade Back of Nickelodeon Store still getting some work done And the Dora show seating is nearly completed1 point

Logs have been removed, just the pool, which is now a garden bed and the tree remain. Hopefully some seating will be added. Think it was a good move by DW rather than leaving a concrete patch.1 point

TLDR: @willco, welcome to the forums, we're a barrel of laughs. Seriously though, i'm super confident it was nothing worth worrying about and just a spot of unluckiness. Enjoy the pass & be sure to try the Kirin Beer at Tiger Island after your next ride.1 point

I actually bought a yearly pass yesterday, and it was my first visit to Dreamworld in over a decade. I frequently drive past it to and fro work. My job is quite demanding and I often have time off during the week and not when most other people have time off. I went for two reasons, one was to go on the buzzsaw and two was to show my support to a Gold Coast icon and a place of happy childhood memories. The last time I rode the Tower of Terror was when you travelled forwards and you only had a lap restraint. I had not contacted Dreamworld at the time of posting which I mentioned in the first post you read. If people confirmed that this has happened to them I wouldn't have even bothered. I imagine there would be a lot of people on here whom are not just enthusiasts but work in the industry. I was trying to not only save Dreamworlds time but my own.1 point

The way I see it the original poster posted this story to gauge whether anyone's had it happen to them and if it's a common occurrence. There's no insinuation of wrongdoing. Yes it sounds like something worthwhile to bring up with the park directly but it's also an interesting thing to discuss with other theme park fans. Anyone is free to come to these forums to discuss interesting, unusual or even concerning things they encounter at theme parks. The theme park mollycoddling on these forums gets a bit much sometimes. If we're so protective of our precious theme parks that we sacrifice interesting conversation for the sake of things the media might get wind of, then what do we talk about at all?1 point

The current Studio Gate House would be my guess as one of Top Golfs car parks is after the gatehouse. Suggest the gatehouse will be moved to just after the car park1 point

I am slightly perplexed as to why you never mentioned something to a member of staff. Given what the industry is going through these little details would be gratefully appreciated by the engineering team & management..1 point

As the links tend not to be dynamic - do this: google 'gold coast pd online' go to the property search enter lot number 6 enter plan number SP118653 search - then click on the little magnifying glass. No documents are lodged on these applications as they are privately certified Application Number: BLD201701082 Description: SOUTH CARPARK ENTRY CHECKPOINT BUILDING Code: BUILDING Class: OFFICE BUILDING Work: CONSTRUCT Lodged: 02/02/2017 Application Number: BLD201700080 Description: COVERED SEATING AREA REFURBISHMENT (AS CONSTRUCTED) Code: BUILDING Class: MISCELLANEOUS COMMERCIAL STRUCTURE Work: ALTERATIONS Lodged: 10/01/2017 Application Number: BLD201700043 Description: COVERED GRAND STAND 'AS CONSTRUCTED' Code: BUILDING Class: MISCELLANEOUS COMMERCIAL STRUCTURE Work: CONSTRUCT Lodged: 09/01/2017 So a few points: remember that the entire property - WNW, AOS, PC, MW, VRS, and everything in between is ONE LOT - this means the applications could be for anything on property. As far as the carpark entry building - it could be an indication of paid parking, or it could be that they are erecting a new 'gatehouse' at a new location to replace the 'gatehouse' they will lose with the installation of the hyper... or it could be something completely different. The covered seating area refurbishment - I wracked my brain trying to think of areas that would fit this description - and this makes me think it isn't in movie world as really - you have the gotham cafe courtyard which is (partially) covered, or you have HWSD arena or ShowStage. None of them really fit the bill for me as they've said 'seating area' as opposed to 'grand stand' or 'upwards seating pit' - so to me it says flat area - this suggests to me that it's probably a barbecue area in WnW - such as the one just around the corner from Calypso. As for covered grand stand - this says construct, not alterations and 'refurbishment' - so this points to a new grandstand altogether. Its a curious one as it would be for people to sit and watch something - i doubt HWSD is getting any work of that nature - which makes me think it may be a semi permanent construction for the comm games - as nothing else really makes sense - but i'm open to other suggestions...1 point

The news has also been reported in several other media outlets, with varying degrees of accuracy. https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/other/luna-park-to-get-fancy-facelift/vp-AAnXGJ01 point

So the ride attendant, nor any other passengers said "hey dude, you have oil/black liquid running down your face"?? Given you shared an elevator in close proximity to 10 other people surely someone would have noticed. You sure it wasn't there already hence why no one said anything?1 point

Don't spread it or the media will broadcast your story, followed by more calls for the place to be shut down!1 point

You're right actually, mist smells and feels a lot like oil. They have almost identical properties.1 point

I always sit in the Billabong Restaurant imagining my party pies are Wagyu grain-fed morsels of deliciousness whilst staring out the window at the Jungle Cruise waiting to depart. Then the kid behind me hits me in the back of the head with a nugget and I realise I have the chewy remains of some minced unspecified farm animal stuck between my teeth and even the ducks don't want to cruise down the river. #pureimagination1 point

I completely agree with you there AlexB The add is all about using your imagination and that is exactly what there are showing you these people are doing.1 point

I wouldn't be too harsh, I think their approach is an appropriate shift, and their creative licensing is OK. I don't have an issue with Lynx deodorant in that every time I use it hot women don't appear and throw themselves at me.1 point
