  1. Yeah but family attractions make a good experience aleast put something in the Looney toons show building rather then the driving school that doesn't even take up the entire space

  2. With talk of a significant update to SDSC coming (Parkz interiew with Clark Kirby), I was thinking.. the previous version of the ride I interpreted as Scooby getting so scared, he runs away from the haunted castle ride and the gang joins him at a party* instead. I'd kinda like to see a more involved plot, where they catch a monster and reveal the villain. So in the queue you get a story of a monster and meet a few characters who set the story up. The part of the ride up to the elevator is Daphne, Fred and Velma decide to go one way, Scooby Doo, Shaggy and you go another. The elevator is a trap the monster sets, and the wild mouse element is a chase scene you often see in the tv show, where the monster chases Scooby and Shaggy. The turntable and hairpin corners are you avoiding the monster, with audio in straights of Fred, Daphne and Velma setting a trap for the monster. You catch the villain and reveal their identity before the 'surprise drop'. Maybe keep the MXPX music for the disembark station/walkway to the gift shop. * Unless the wild mouse section was always meant to reference a 'chase' scene?

  3. #notmykid. I couldn't put my kid in there - for one, the wife would likely stab me to death, for the other - the little houdini would probably completely destroy the locker while escaping, and then i'd have to pay to replace it.

  4. Well I think the theory that Chinese people wouldn't eat Chinese food in Australia is pretty dumb tbh. I mean obviously they aren't going to travel here for it but while they're here absolutely they would. FWIW though I was thinking about Asian food for locals. Go to the average shopping center food court and tell me there isn't demand for Asian food.

  5. Please don't put words in my name. I'll say what Push is! There's ample room for more lockers at Wet & Wild if they are needed, and they're not that expensive in the scheme of things.

  6. I completely agree, and I'm hopeful that Village now shares this vision. Judging by the comments in this interview, it would seem likely they do. The increased pass pricing will help provide the funds to build these. I've been to Alton Towers and Disneyland, so I know what a really good theme park (as opposed to fun park) is like! Thrills do sell, and all good theme parks need thrilling experiences. However that's just one part of the package. A great theme park has much more than just thrill rides. Thrills can also be a part of more comprehensive rides. Also rides are just one of numerous types of attractions a great theme park should have. I'm pretty confident Movie World at least is on the right track.

  7. So you want them to BUY MORE LOCKERS and then you want them to REDUCE THE PRICE TO USE THEM? Is this making sense to ANYBODY ELSE???

  8. What I like about this interview is it gives me a John Menzies era vibe. Passionate people who care about the parks and the people who visit them. They know keeping guests happy keeps them spending and coming back.

  9. It's a case of supply and demand. Frequently during peak periods, there are banks of lockers that are sold out. Unlike dry parks - almost every guest visiting a water park wants to be able to secure their valuables so that they can swim. If they were free, then those people who do stash their stuff in their shoe \ backpack etc would likely take up the free locker option. Then you'd be on here complaining that there aren't enough lockers. (Because, of course you would).

  10. I bet there’s plenty of family members who were happy to go on Viking’s Revenge but won’t have a bar of Storm. A non-coaster please.

  11. The movie the ride is themed to wasn't filmed at the studios. It was filmed in Vancouver. The original 2002 movie was filmed at the studios, but 'Monsters Unleashed' was filmed in Canada. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0331632/locations?ref_=tt_dt_dt

  12. It's not a mistake @AlexB It's obvious a sign for busy times. I am embarrassed to think what senior management of the parks think when people keep getting things wrong.

  13. ^ maybe they're fitting cages on top of the Boats?

  14. I am embarrassed to think what senior management of the parks think when they see some of the comments on this forum. I am just very glad they obviously see them for what they are, and they appreciate the comments made by more intelligent people who contribute useful feedback on the parks, and don't get caught up in the childish insults.

  16. SW posted this on FB. Seeing it like this complete, I think the volcano looks really cool at the back of the area. Along with the water spraying everywhere

  17. @pushbutton I was trying to put it nicely. Let’s face facts here Push 99.9999999999999999999999999% of your ideas are dumb. I only gave you .00000000000000000000000000001% because miracles do happen. You need to return to planet earth.

  18. The scobby revamp does seem to be a step in the right direction since there not just retheming it to DC like lethel weapon, hopefully they use more ips for rides I think that mad Max,Lord of the rings, blade runner and the Lego movie could be big hits. Note: excuse me for Grammer issues I'm currently on moblie.

  19. I was talking about the rides that came before that and the parks really need to focus on family rides rather then thrill rides in the past seven years we have lost 3 family rides and only gained one while the other two were turned into a thrill ride and a Kidde ride, also we need a LTV revamp soon to make the parks better and more "theme park" rather then "fun park"

  20. Hopefully this means we will be getting more expensive rides rather then cheap coasters and flat rides

  21. I’m sure we had the locals pricing conversation a page or 2 back.

  22. Some water parks have smaller lockers for a lesser price. I think SW should get more of its transportation rides back, whether it's a miniature train, gondola, autopia or boat ride.

  23. I get that at $200 a pop, a large family is going to find it tough to stump up $1000+ upfront, but in saying that, that’s assuming they are not locals, and are obviously holidaying on the GC more than once a year (or else why buy an annual when shorter terms are available), so I guess if you can afford to holiday interstate 2-3 times a year, you need to factor your entertainment requirements into your holiday budgets.

  24. Clark walked past us this morning whilst waiting for rivals area to open at approximately 9.45am. I didn’t realise who he was at the time. I’m wondering whether the big new ride will be located where the castle is. I rode the monorail sweat box yesterday and soon realised there are so many areas within SeaWorld that need some tlc.

  25. I don't think we need another DC Rivals. Something totally different, with a water / sea theme please!

  26. I've been meaning to compliment Parkz since the earlier scoops from the DW CEO, but WELL DONE RICHARD AND TEAM! The professionalism of Parkz has no doubt led to these big bosses feeling comfortable sitting down and talking to you. The accuracy and insight of Parkz' journalism in relation to the theme park industry in this country far, far exceeds any mainstream media outlet, as we all know. And on this particular article, I am rather thrilled that Clark Kirby appears to be, from all indications so far, the CEO we were all hoping for for Village Roadshow Theme Parks. Everything he said was bang on the money. This is a guy that seems to know exactly what needs to be done. Let's hope he keeps up that momentum and sticks with the strategy!

  28. Went on Justice League today. So so soooooo happy that I can say it was at 90-95% working perfectly! The only parts not working that I could see was a couple of targets not flashing on & off + no vibration. Other than that It was great! Not sure if Movie World reads these forums to see problems that may be occurring in the park but I just want to say a huge well done for getting on top of that! It was the first time in a long time that I didn't think to myself "I wanna get off this ride" halfway through

  29. OK, this is just my opinion so I’m not criticising anyone else’s view. I’ve not been to LA but have been to Orlando 5 times. Last time, my kids were 12 & 13. Firstly, the Holiday Inn Suites are an excellent choice. The location is perfect for all theme parks; especially if you want to have a mid afternoon nap with the little ones. Do get a WDW multi pass. I’m not sure what the current deal is but try to get a 6 day pass with 2 extra days in the water parks. Use them as follows. MK - 2 days in week 1 & 2. The MK is great for all ages. One tip is to do the left side of the park first. Jungle boat, Pirates, Splash Mt, Thunder Mt & Haunted Manor. Book your fast passes for Space Mt, 7 dwarfs and Goofy coaster (or meet the Princesses if the little ones like that). The MK gets stupidly full after lunch so consider leaving for a rest at the hotel around 2pm and return around 5pm. Or do the sit down attractions like the hall of Presidents, Philharmagic or ride the MK railroad. Take a pram for the 3 year old and if possible, a buggy board for the 6 year old. Finally, the Be our guest restaurant is awesome but needs booking online 6 months in advance. EPCOT - 2 days in week 1 & 2. EPCOT is very big. Pram is essential. Book your fast passes for Test Track, Frozen ever after and if possible Soarin. Lots of attractions for the whole family but more geared to older visitors. Again, consider a mid afternoon nap but come back for the fireworks around 8/9pm. Finally, try Germany for food. All you can eat BBQ. DHS - 1 day in mid fortnight. DHS is a bit of a building site at the moment. Star Tours, ToT & Rocknrollercoaster are main draws. Little ones make like Frozen singalong and there and B & Beast shows and a Little mermaid theatre. You may finish DHS by around 3pm so have a rest and return for Fantasmic around 7pm. It’s possibly the best WDW show ever. AK - 1 day mid fortnight. Fast passes for Exp Everest, Avatar and Na’vi River. Since Avatar opened, AK is now a full day. Lots of attractions but tends to close around 6pm. So think hard about a mid afternoon nap. BB & TL. 1 day each bit remember 1 park will be closed during Orlando winter. TL has the edge for teenagers but I’d pick BB for 3 & 6 year olds. Both are really good and Mum can relax on a sun lounger all day. Sea World. 1day. SeaWorld is great for the whole family. Sitting in the splash zone of the Orca show is a great experience but remember it’ll be cooler. The 3 Rollercoasters are arguably the best white knuckle rides in Orlando. Again. Lots of sitting attractions so don’t bother with a mid afternoon nap. Finally, arrive at the Shamu show 45 mins before the start. Dad & a teen can get snacks while the family save seats. Universal - Now we didn’t do Universal last time. Mainly because my kids aren’t into Harry Potter and my wife wouldn’t ride anything in IOA. That’s not saying don’t do U.S but we skipped it to make room for other stuff like shopping and KSC. KSC - Seeing the space shuttle was great but as for KSC, the boys loved it, the girls hated it. Volcoano Bay - is very new and I’ve not been. Looking at their website, it looks awesome and possibly better than BB & TL. Remember it’ll be winter and hold off on tickets until you know how warm it’ll be. Legoland - is targeted at young families ages 3-9. We didn’t bother as we’ve done the park in England. Finally, the Vineland mall near your hotel is the best one. Also, consider booking a table at T-Rex in Disney Springs. Awesome special effects but average food. And if you like LEGO, the LEGO store in Disney Springs is approx half the price of Australia. Just take a half empty suitcase. Happy Travels!

  30. From the local council member. We have had a couple of emails from local residents regarding the ‘brightness’ of feature lights atop of the new roller coaster at Movieworld. From a City Planning perspective Officers from Development Compliance have advised the new roller coaster is defined as “a Tourist Attraction and is an accepted use in the Major Tourism Zone in the City Plan, as such there is no development approval or conditions relating to the roller coaster that can be used to enforce any perceived amenity impacts or light nuisance from the structure affixed to the top of the roller coaster”. In addition Officers also advised “...like the “Green Lantern” ride lights, the lights do not meet the definition of ‘advertise’ in the local law, which includes the use of any temporary advertising device or permanent advertising device for the sale or exposing for sale, or for the purpose of publicising any matter. They are lights on a roller coaster, which we do not regulate”. Finally, a Senior Enviromental Health Officer attend one complainants property and “...measured light pollution at a bedroom window from the sign at the top of the Hypercoaster. Max 1 lux light spill observed. No observable nuisance based on this reading...” PS no noise complaints logged (yet) regarding screams from guests riding the roller coaster upside down / backwards...

  31. Thing is, many of what we would see as 'chinese' food wouldn't be regarded as chinese food by Chinese people - for example - Chow Mein, or Mini Spring Rolls, although derived from Chinese food have little resemblance to the traditional chinese dish from which it originated... Shit wait - did you have it at Alton Towers? Thanks for the backseat moderation. It was so desperately needed in the absence of a mod - especially since a mod hasn't visited this thread in ages.
