Hi Alex, I understand your frustration. I can tell you one thing that we have zero control over what this site does or how they carry out their buisness. Richard I believe is the man, he is very strong in his views and that’s why I respect him and engage him when I can. Okay so a lot of people reached out to me, I had zero issue with anything being said here, the reason why I am here is to answer questions that people may have if I can without compromising myself. Hi There, unfortunately do I care no, but if someone does make deliberate and ridiculous statements then I will act on it by first talking to them and if it does not work then I will use legal avenues only to set the record straight. I have no issues in copping the heat but I do have an issue when there is false news being spread and people are being a bully. That is not on, I feel in many ways that I should eradicate bullying because I can. Hi Alex, it’s hard to say it all here. In a bit she’ll, I have not seen my kids grow up as I worked every single holiday and Christmas Day from morning to night as that’s who I am. The world thought my wife was a single mum. It was and still is hard as I don’t have much of a connection except I meet my responsibilities with the kids. It’s tough but I did this because I cared about the people I worked with and the guests and the industry. I am not looking for a pat on the back but I am still the person i was when I first started out, those same people still work in the buisness and they were the ones that trained me, btw they still clip me hard if I do something silly, and I am ok with that. I also understand that in my position, I walk with a target on my back and people will attack me and that’s ok. Saying this, if there is malicious content out there, and if it is bought to my attention, I will first talk to the person responsible and then do what i need to. If they are right then I will correct myself and accept the public outcry. Hope this helps mate.11 points

I’ve read enough of his style of writing that I’m not even going to doubt that this is Bikash. It 100% is. For the record, regardless of any difference of opinion or personal feeling, having a VRTP park executive as a registered and contributing forum member is something we’ve called for for 15 years here. Putting personal feelings aside Bikash, I do hope you stick around on the forums to converse and discuss with others here. I’d very much like to have my personal opinions of you proven wrong, and I hope you’ve joined to engage with the community who love your parks as much as you appear to, and not just to have your rebuttals. while we know Parkz is watched by the local industry, a two way dialog is always better than an echo chamber, and hopefully you can be the start of a dialog the likes of Mark Shaw or The Real Belinda Brown. I guess time will tell. as an afterthought and somewhat on topic - can you tell us whether there is any hope of Fright Nights this year?6 points

I think it's a shame the previous discussion was removed, there were some great points about the situation and the response from our operators from the likes of @CaptainLazerGuns and others. I don't recall any unfound accusations being made in it, but even then, a decent public figure should be able to withstand a personal attack (ie calling someone a wanker), thats one of the things about being a public figure, not everyone is going to love you. You can't sue someone because they don't agree with what you say.6 points

Welcome @Bikash Randhawa as many have stated I hope we do get some at least periodic interaction with you on this site. having a direct touchpoint with the parks is much appreciated and shows an eagerness to understand and hear your parks biggest and most vocal fans opinions - be those positive or negative. The one thing I can say is the majority here are generally not negative for the sake of it, and any criticism is borne from a genuine love of our parks and wanting to see them be the best they can be.5 points

The Rocky Hollow Log Ride was a staple for almost every family trip of mine to Dreamworld. I have fond memories riding it as a young kid, being terrified of that very meagre final plunge. I even remember riding it with members of the family that don't normally partake in other attractions, such as my grandparents. Call it nostalgia but the best replacement is just a flume. It's a staple of a Theme Park experience, with the worlds most well regarded parks all having an installation of some sort. Each and every family member, from the young to the young-at-heart, are all able to enjoy the experience. The most exciting prospect to me is that a flume attraction offers Dreamworld an opportunity to reintroduce well-themed environments and exciting stories to it's guests; Flumes can be quite underwhelming without a keen appreciation for themed entertainment. Is this the most exciting concept? Is it the most flashy? Absolutely not, but I do not believe that it has to be. Not every addition to a park needs to be the brightest, most modern or the most daring. The last thing Dreamworld needs is to be on the "Bleeding Edge"; What they need what is proven to work, what already meets their existing market and what fills the gap in their lineup.5 points

Naa they should totally build an entire themed land to supplement an entirely out of place gift shop. or... they could move the fairy shop to ocean parade, where all random themes go to die...4 points

Agree - whether it is true or not, the disappearance of the entire discussion (which would be great to reflect on for certain dates and timelines later on) smacks of censorship to appease park management. If we can't criticise or hold to account the very people who are in charge of our parks, will this forum turn into a bunch of yes-men administering some sort of unofficial fan club?4 points

I've put together a quick consolidated knowledge-base for guests & members to stay up to date with the latest COVID-19 related impacts to the country's major theme parks & water parks. This initial post will be updated periodically. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Timeline for parks to re-open (last updated, 16th June, 2020 @ 9:58pm) On the 8th May, prime minister Scott Morrison announced the easing of COVID-19 related restrictions in Australia, which included amusement parks as a part of stage 2 of 3 of the easing plan. At present, this plan is being implemented at the state level, and as such, each state is progressing with this plan on a different timeline based on a myriad of factors, including (but not limited to) active cases of COVID-19 and the rate of infection in the community. However, as of the 13th May, it's been noted in the media that many larger businesses (including our theme parks) may not re-open during stage 2 due to the 20-person limit that was outlined in the plan, making it fiscally impossible to operate during stage 2 or even into stage 3. In a previous thread, it was noted that some larger venues (like our theme parks) may be exempt from this 20-person limit subject to a COVID-Safe plan approved by the government. This however has yet to be clarified upon by the government, and as such, there is no confirmed timeline or date that are our parks will re-open on at this stage. Amusement parks (in particular Gold Coast theme parks) are working with the government to develop and approve COVID Safe plans to re-open for September School Holidays. Village Roadshow Theme Parks hope to re-open Sea World first in early July, followed by Warner Bros. Movie World & Wet 'n' Wild in time for September school holidays. Village Roadshow Theme Parks have announced re-opening dates for their parks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Below is an updated list of major parks and their current state of re-opening. I'll continue to update with links and updates from the discussion. (last updated, 16th June, 2020 @ 9:58pm) Queensland Dreamworld: Closed WhiteWater World: Closed Warner Bros. Movie World: Re-opens 15th July Sea World: Re-opens 26th June Wet 'n' Wild Gold Coast: Re-opens 15th July Paradise Country: Re-opens 26th June Australian Outback Spectacular: Re-opens 3rd July Top Golf - Open Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary - Re-opens 26th June Australia Zoo - Open New South Wales Luna Park Sydney: Closed Raging Waters: Closed Victoria Funfields: Closed Luna Park Melbourne: Closed Western Australia Adventure World: Closed Sidenote: a reminder to all to keep this apolitical. Parkz is about having fun, not doxxing those you disagree with. If you're not sure about what's allowed to be posted, our community guidelines are a great read if you're bored during lockdown.3 points

I think a lot of people need to turn off the computer and go for a nice walk in the sunshine. This isn't a storm in a teacup, it's a hurricane in a thimble. Get some perspective about how unimportant this stuff is. For the record, we weren't contacted by anyone, we as a group read the posts and thought it was a dumpster fire. The options were delete the lot, lock the thread or take out as must of the off topic as possible. We went with deleting the posts. We'll go back and restore any that got deleted that were on topic, but it's a tangled mess of shit.3 points

Power splash would be the perfect attraction for DW and is a great replacement for RHLR. The footprint of RHLR covers around 140 metres, but the Power Splash does cover a lot more area, so it would head towards the Blue Lagoon area. Hopefully if DW are happy with Mack and their new coaster, hopefully that will lead towards more rides from them.3 points

Let's all take a step back from our own personally created narratives for a moment here and look at things from the outside... The nonsense back and forth previous thread really did little more than embarrass both Parkz and honestly also to some extent the people posting. I have no doubt in my mind that the COO of VRTP couldn't give two shits what names some people on a forum call him, and certainly not enough to the extent anyone would contact us to remove the posts. The very boring truth of the matter is that all of the Admins felt it was a complete rubbish thread and it would be sad if anyone from management of any park did read it and took that as a reflection of the maturity of the enthusiast community as a whole.3 points

Whlst it would never happen I'd love to see a nice woodie themed in the Wild West section of the park, if you wanted to somehow push some IP onto it there's always the new Dune movie coming up. As for the kids area, Space Jam 2 is in the works so the idea of taking the old AA site and doing a new kids area there isn't a bad idea IMO, then you could use the current kids area for something new.2 points

I must have slipped into a coma and missed it all as I didn’t see pages of crap. I saw a couple of unsavoury comments and accusations that sure, overstepped a boundary and deserved to be deleted, but from my memory there was a solid amount of good, informative content prior to that, and even with it....2 points

Why’s everyone fighting over a removed forum this was about park reopening updates. not attacking others and letting out your personal grudges2 points

I personally think that the popularity of WnW comes down to the ease of access for people who buy the 3day 3 park passes. If movie world is more popular, then I think it would be right to assume that it would affect the attendance of WnW among tourists.2 points

Just to clarify @Jobe, this personal gripe several members have doesn't belong in Chit Chat -- or on Parkz anywhere. As @djrappa said we may go through and clean up the removed thread when one of us gets a chance, but there were several pages of insults and conjecture that far cross the line of rigourous debate and the best course of action in the middle of the night was to simply remove the entire topic. The point you reference has been there many years verbatim and you'll have agreed to it in the past when we've updated the T&Cs. The only change to the terms and conditions was this one sentence: You may not dox or share another person's personal or private information on Parkz.2 points

I don’t think they should get a water coaster in that form as it’s very similar to storm unless they give it really elaborate and unique theme.2 points

Since there is a million threads about what should be replaced or what’s next for a theme park, why not discuss about ideas for a new themed area for Dreamworld! The Gold Rush Country is basically gone so what do people think should be replacing it. Do keep in mind that the area currently is home to The Giant Drop, BuzzSaw and is going to be the home of the new coaster. The area highlighted is the area that needs to have a new theme. Since the area is nearly as big as WWW, it could be split into two smaller themed area or one giant themed area. I personally think a futuristic area or a new western area would be good but the new coaster is most likely going to be snake themed.1 point

Could definitely work, but seeing as the AA site is already among the other headliners and thrill rides, I think it would make more sense if you just put a major ride there and completely restart the kids area.1 point

Regarding upfront, the post was removed, and in its place Slick posted a very long and thoughtful post (including time stamps and a commitment to update it as things developed) with a vague footnote about doxxing, which I know some people had to google. what I mean is - acknowledge the actions upfront. It’s a couple sentences which explain where the admin team is at rather than pretending nothing happened except in a vague footnote: “Guys, things are getting too personal and we don’t feel this is suited to Parkz. We’ve removed the whole thread for expediency rather than spend all night filtering all the bad words. We may restore and move the more valuable contributions into this thread at a later date if we have time, But for now, removing the thread was a quick fix to put a stop to the crap that was crossing the line. If anyone wants to continue the personal attacks, take it elsewhere as it doesn’t meet our guidelines. contact <admin> if you want to discuss further - don’t derail another thread“ I mean shit - I’ve already drafted it for you, so now all you gotta do is copy paste in the future. and ok, fair point on pressler/Eisner. So we can say Eisner ran the parks like a bit of a dickhead at the end of his tenure, but we can’t say Eisner is a dickhead? Gotcha. Yes I knew that that particular point has been there a while. I also knew something had changed, it just wasn’t clear what it was. my point though, was the point I was referencing was a catch-all. You can do as you please. You aren’t answerable to anyone and it is your private site. And we can’t complain. all we can do if we don’t like how it is being managed is choose to use the service, or not. The addition of the “private info or doxxing” is interesting. I know, for example that Push was doxxed by someone once, and his profile and IRL name was published, and later removed. that was bad. likewise, I had to private message a moderator after they doxxed me - that is, they used my IRL name on the forum also. It was quickly rectified and I’m sure minimal damage was done.”, which I appreciate. i don’t know what information was shared or about who overnight (I’m rarely active outside daytime hours), I just hope we aren’t giving the definition of doxxing too wide a definition. I came up with several examples to demonstrate my point but each draft could be taken to be inflammatory or argumentative and that’s not what I’m trying to do here, so I’ll leave it at that and if anyone wants more info about what I mean, feel free to PM.1 point

Wet n Wild, correct me if I am wrong, but isn'[t its position n the Top 20 simply because of the limited amount of big water parks in the world? WhiteWater World trumps Wet n Wild two fold. Wet n Wild Sydney trumped WNWGC as well. The park is in some serious need of investment. The only benefit in my opinion that it has over WWW is the fact that the natural vegetation has grown around the park.1 point

reply to AlexB. personally being a WB kid through and through, there lies part Of the problem, WBMW, not having direct input from its direct namesake. If . WB U.S. were to re-take ownership or partownership of the Park (hint hint if the parks up for sale) like the good ole days Would alleviate this problem, maybe take a good look At the Warner Bros Park in Dubai for inspiration, theming and the full immersive factor. Being old school and part of the MW opening crew, know full well of the licensing and cost factor , quite surprised WBMW. Has as much DC as it does for the licensing Of the DC branding and the individual characters.1 point

On the contrary - take a look at opinions shared about Pressler, Eisner et al. Enthusiasts and fans alike have oft criticised the people that lead the organisation responsible for their passion and pasttimes. It's not about personality, its about actions. And the actions of park executives, how they respond, react and handle a health crisis affecting their industry is extremely relevant to the running of a theme park. But, since the updated Parkz terms and conditions say you can do whatever you want to (and really, that's always been the case - its a public forum but its privately owned) we can't really complain. The issue I take with these actions (and yes, I understand there's a lot of time involved in moderating and administering such a large community) is that, just like last time when you shut down off topic or chit chat or whatever else forum it was, we all took issue, and voiced our dislike for those actions, and the biggest issue taken was that these steps were taken without any form of explanation. Now, acknowledging that which I said above - its a private site and you guys can do whatever you please - communicating the position you're taking up front, instead of after everyone has had a whinge is a great way for people to stay on side and support what you're doing - to make life easier for you. As you've said "above is more of the same"... because you created a vacuum, didn't explain the issues as to why, and didn't leave anything to fill it with (Slicks "timeline" didn't really fit the bill)... why does that sound familiar? Well colour me psychic...1 point

Seriously - I loved the 'small guy in a big town' success story, working as a waiter in SWR, working up the ranks to get to the position of top dog. I had a lot of respect for someone who can achieve that. But the higher he rose, the more public his profile, and that's where things started to go awry... Genuine public comments from people commenting on media articles about Sea World's new attractions, and seeing him berate them for what is in essence, their own opinion. Most of them probably don't realise what role he has within the organisation. The latest articles, where he is quoted saying they needed 5,000 to be profitable, and that they government should be letting larger companies have more people in the parks just shows, in my opinion, the words and actions appear to be someone who cares more about profits than their guests. Now i'm not saying that's who he is, i'm just saying thats the appearance that his words and actions are giving. And if I may quote a forum moderator - some media training could probably help with that. If he just ignored the haters, and set about proving them wrong, instead of acting the blowhard and the bully, he could probably change many people's negative opinions and earn the respect you suggest. As has been said (in a now invisible thread) - our parks should be leading the way in showing other businesses what steps they can take to increase the capacity limits by ensuring certain protections are put into place. Now is a time to show how much you care for your guests - not to criticise your customers and show contempt for the actions of a government that are on par or better than most governments management plans around the world. Thank god we aren't in Italy, South Korea, China, or the United States, and we've kept the infection rates low. That, and our isolated borders mean we should be able to confidently reopen, and STAY open without having a second wave like many places around the world are starting to see. Again, to quote another - god forbid pressure on state or federal governments gets our parks exempted from the rules everyone else is following only to have a massive explosion in infections shut them down again and shatter whatever post-TRRR community confidence they hold.1 point

You're failing to take into account the fact that the new coaster takes up MOST of that area. Yes. Use this thread for sharing and discussing your ideas on what theme it should have, not that other thread for showcasing your ideas of what theme AND rides it should have...1 point

I think a Gerstlauer Infinity coaster would work really well in Arkham Asylum's space, the ride does not need that much space which is something Movie World might struggle with. Also, on the lines of IPs. It honestly doesn't matter what it is when it is done right. Wild West Falls is very loosely based on the movie, which i don't know many people who have actually seen that movie yet it is one of the most popular attractions at the park. I know the wild west as a whole is a very known concept and easy to market, but the point still stands.1 point

Most kids haven't seen the 1995 film Waterworld, or know of that IP. Yet the Waterworld stunt show (a stunt show based off that IP) is a very popular attraction, and still highly regarded as one of the best theme park stunt shows in the world. When Universal Beijing opens next year, 4 of those shows will be cloned around the world. The post apocalyptic world of Mad Max lends itself towards a fantastic set, costumes, and action sequences. There are many similarities between the Mad Max and Waterworld films; why not take inspiration from the most successful themepark stunt show in the world.1 point
