  1. I remember seeing this article in the paper when i was just 10 years old and reading it with fascination and wonder. Of course the plans did not eventuate but I do remember that the coaster plans were by Arrow Huss. I just wanted to share this with all of you as this article has been in my brain for 30 + years and to finally see a digital copy is great. Given that there was fierce resident opposition even then this did not progress beyond pre planning stages but it certainly does present a huge "Oh what might have been" moment. The link to the article is HERE

  2. So a child, who refuses to speak to professionals or any family about the incident, will only be able to move on with her life once she receives monetary compensation? what a load of rubbish. i am not for one second arguing that this girl doesn’t deserve compensation for losing her mother, she absolutely does, but she is a child and no money is going to bring back her mum or help her process what happened. her family should be less focused on campaigning for her to get cash, and focus on her mental well being - if it’s true she has been internalising the events of the day for 4 years, and not spoken to anyone, that can be completely destructive for her long term quality or life.

  3. This footage was used in a virtual simulator within the park for those not willing to ride the coaster. Hence why its production value ain't too bad (for its time). Although I'm lead to believe some parts might be missing from this footage.

  5. Great to see Superman reopening! That ride brings so much life to the park. It was sorely missed.

  7. Apologies Slick. Sorry all, what I meant to say in the first place was “Silly media always beating up on Ardent. They are just trying to make the park ok again, we should give them a go and applaud their efforts. Awesome management team in place there.” Have a good weekend 👈LOL such a zinga

  8. She should get help when she's ready. She should also be compensated. Ardent through their actions have linked the two, potentially causing more trauma. If she doesnt want, or is unable to talk about seeing her mum and 2 other family members being killed right in front of her, maybe respect that but still give her the compensation she's due? This shit isn't hard. Also she's 14. She knows what money is, don't treat her like an idiot.

  9. So i finally got the driver working so can take screenshots in game. The game is stunning up above the land, but less than 1500ft is less than stellar. Currumbin David Fleay Broadbeach Cavill St Mall Macintosh Island Sea World Movieworld Paradise Country WNW WWW Dreamworld One of the most jarring things about being close to the ground is the fact that the trees take priority over everything else - including other trees. There's other little discrepancies too, like Reptar being replaced with a giant Heart Leaf Philodendron and the RHLR main hill becoming an actual hill ingame. But all in all, here's what the game looks like from way above DW.

  10. Thanks for telling me more about the history of that video it seems slightly awkward the big dipper in luna park in my opinion it's probably because I wasn't born in that era but it would have been cool to experience as well as Wonderland Sydney

  11. I feel like this video had to be here for some reason but most of you might have seen this already

  12. Amazing. I heard about this. Never believed it tho as no evidence could be found. You, sir, have outdone yourself.

  13. Wow, I had no idea. Sick find there @Jobe - there's a real Great American Scream Machine vibe to that proposal. There's also some tiny hints of what would eventually become the Big Dipper turned Cyclone/Sidewinder/??? that we all know today.

  15. All whisper and rumour i've heard has said the same - Arkham (no surprise) and Pounce & Bounce (no great loss). Given that Dreamworld ?recently? removed theirs, my guess is either the product has issues the manufacturer can't resolve, or in the new age of safety, the restraint system probably wasn't up to the task required by the risk assessment. All my own speculation - but its quite telling the long list of other attractions everyone is coming up with, be they SBNO, down for extended maintenance, or otherwise omitted from the park map, suggests VRTP has a lot more than 2 attractions they need to remove at some point in the future, and that doesn't even count those still operating that have a troubled history or are on their last legs.

  16. I hate to be saying this but... Where is the need? SW have committed to building 3 new rides that don't encroach on that space. The money is better spent at other parks where there re SBNO rides/slides taking up usable space. The only thing Vikings Revenge is doing is blocking SW from building some better paths but from the already built path to Vortex they have clearly committed to an entrance already. I'm assuming it will be Arkham and Mach 5

  21. Again, it was in the context of 'This is what we're doing with our capex'. You can expect what ever you want and I'm happy for you, but that's the answer 🙂 As for the next part of the conversation; you'd think Cyclone has a bit of life left in it still. Surely they've learned not to spend lots of money returning a ride only to have it be cactus shortly after

  22. This ride will always be called the Cyclone as far as I'm concerned.

  23. Oh, I did not know that she was still an minor as they never mentioned it in the ABC News report. I thought that you meant that an grown woman is having an temper tantrum about money. I do apologize, it was just an misunderstanding.
