Wow, never seen pictures of the mine ride from the inside. I Never got to ride Eureka Mountain but am pleased to hear that Dreamworld are concidering to reopen it. (or just playing a sick joke on us) From what i have been told (from my dad) it was a great ride that Dreamworld should have never closed.

The main part of the track in Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster is based on a "Wild Mouse" design, but it's so much more than just a basic roller coaster. From the photos I can tell that Eureka was (and maybe will be again) also based on a Wild Mouse design, but much more - yet completely different from Scooby Doo!.

I really hope this happens, and the sooner the better as far as I'm concerned!

Just had a quick check for any GCCC permits and found nothing relating directly to any works involving Eureka. I did however find that Dreamworld are expanding their maintenance warehouse, with a new building about two-thirds the size of the existing one being constructed. Perhaps they need to relocate some items that were in storage under Eureka?

I could be very wrong here, but i wouldnt think they need a permit for the eureka mine ride because they are not construcation a new building or demolish?

If they are simply testing the mechanics and ride system and performing general maintenance on it, then they don't need one. However, if they do plan on doing any sort of major changes to the building structure, then they would need a permit.

Maybe at this point in time if there was "Proof of Concept" testing going on behind the scenes... they probably wouldnt need to change anything about the ride... It probably still 'Runs' fine...

EDIT: Running SAFELY...now thats a whole other issue (hence the fire extinguisher... which looks brand new... and is sitting in the middle of the floor...)

EDIT2: AAAAAAAANNNDDD.... It is charged to normal pressure.... but there is no pin in it... Hmm

how the hell did you get them pics? did you sneak in?

The big ol' wooden doors at the back of the eureka mountain have some very convenient cracks in them ;):P

Lol BTTF, regardless of whether the ride is re opening again or not, I reckon DW staff would be getting great amusement and a good ol' chuckle out of all our ongoing 'investigation' work around that area. Heaven knows I have been guilty of it recently of well, every time I'm in that area I am sticky beaking around for anything new lol.

I keep hoping for a day when I'm walking over the rapids bridge, looking up at the old exposed track and then suddenly see a test mine cart go flying past.

Wishful thinking? :D

Good, because for a forum about such a joyful subject there's enough pessimism around here to make you think the forum was about funeral services!

I think that pessimism is probably a little harsh Pushbutton. I can only speak for myself, and as I have stated before, I am taking a cautious approach to this. Would I be happy if the DID reopen Eureka? Abso-Fricken-lutely!!! Bring it on!! However, nothing I have seen reported has filled me with overwhelming confidence that this will become a reality- yet. Its great discussion and the plot does thicken as each day passes. I am taking one day at a time. I DO have all my fingers crossed though!
