  1. Big Dipper support beams have started to arrive and boomerang was testing today, I have it on video but I will upload it later tonight!

  2. Controversial opinion - I find it super, super cringe any time a park puts on a hype-style dance number as entertainment. I reckon folks get way more value and entertainment from character interactions or shows with a sense of purpose and theme, of which this 30th celebration does both. On the whole i'm not an avid follower of shows and entertainment in parks but this seems to hit all the right notes in adding some quality back into day trade.

  3. I dunno, 3 new rides at Sea World, new slide complex at WnW, new exhibit at PC, big new event and parade probably with the most ‘movieness’ we’ve seen at Movie World in ages... Oh and potentially two hotels To me the ‘can’t compete with us’ is fairly valid. Like you can’t compete with the sheer offering vrtp has. Bikash never said “you can’t compete with one ride I’m going to announce”

  4. Re-posting and tweaking this post from another thread because I stand by this idea and I reckon it's boss. Mad Max themed land. Vekoma Mad-house where the WB Exhibit is now. Entrance to the east facing current Arkham station OR an ETF dark ride system that uses the Mavericks/WB Exhibit building as a station/dark-ride section that then swings out into a Mad Max themed courtyard. Vekoma flyer that makes use of the space from Superman Escape's helixes right up to the current maze buildings. Mad Max themed bar and events space that doubles as an exit pathway, observation platform (think light-house type outpost themed to Mad Max) and merch space for the ride itself. Mack Twist 'n' Splash or Drunken Barrels (or hell, any half decent flat ride that would do well on a hot summer day) to tie the space in between current Arkham courtyard and the interconnect from the Mad Max area to WWF. This combo of attractions would make great use of the land, avoids overlap with existing attractions in Australia and has clearly defined marketable advantages (country's first flying coaster, total novelty factor etc.) Advantages of a Mad Max themed land: There's a new Mad Max movie. The theme is pretty iconic and timeless at this point. It's basically an abandoned, rustic theme, so it's not crazy expensive to do well It's Aussie AF and appeals to the same demo that Hollywood Stunt Driver does The transitions between other precincts themed lands is a piece of cake - it's an easy transition to WWF, and the transitions between Superman and Main Street are basically more of what used to be there with the China Town Alley-way. If you put an RMC Hybrid between West and Mad Max it'd fit theming wise for both and blur the transition between the lands. You're welcome Village. 🍻 Second update: have added inspo pictures because why not. How sick would it be walking into the former Arkham Asylum precinct styled into a dry Sydney Harbour, complete with broken harbour bridge, faux skyline facades, beautiful chandalier interiors with old Victorian-style glasshouses melded into the sand rockery and a ton of cool outposts and makeshift vehicles thrown into the mix.

  5. Hyping up things in theme parks is basically playing with fire. Very rarely does it actually pay off because there are so many variables that factor into ones individual outcome beyond just doing good things and yes, people have wild imaginations. Whilst I do feel like a fool for getting hyped myself thinking that really big things were on the horizons because of the wording of the message, I think this is why most international operators usually keep their mouths shut on upcoming attractions and let out very calculated bits of information that tapper expectations. VRTP hyped this up to be huge and it's all nice additions but it's nothing outrageous and the general vibe from fans seems pretty lukewarm. Though up the road Dreamworld has been keeping their cards close to their chest about snek coaster and the other day when they dropped that it had a themed tunnel you could mistake that as the second coming of Jesus. I hate to go down the route of VRTP vs Dreamworld, but you can tell they're being very careful about what comes out. Perhaps it's a Greg thing because I remember DC Rivals wasn't even announced when construction started.

  7. Here's my two cents: Kaboom! / Master Blaster Raft Slides - F*ck yeah. Exactly what they needed to get and sweet name. High capacity, different from the rest of the line-up and something that one-ups HydroCoaster at WWW which has been their signature slide since the park opened. No conveyor belt to carry rafts up to the top of the country's tallest waterslide (23m) is taking the piss a bit. The next tallest would be Mammoth Falls (17m) and Green Rome at WWW (20m) and both have conveyor belts for rafts. Smart to have mirrored slides ala Mammoth Falls for peak season trade. Super Ripper - Uhhhh, did they forget there's three slides with the word "Rip" in them over at WWW? Interesting naming aside, this looks like good filler. More body slides are always a win. Double Barrel - This looks like bad filler. It's not better than what was there before (these are tiny) and by making people use rafts leads me to believe they were freaked out by the mess over at WWW with the Fully6 "freefall" style slides and nerfed these slides completely. These look so pointless that more body slides would've been better. H2Oasis / Everything Else - Wet 'n' Wild is a big park, so having more areas where families can set up shop for the day and keep the young ones entertained without having to trek halfway across the park is such a good call.

I can't read this article due to the paywall but I assume it has something to do with the new waterslide? https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/business/gold-coast-business/gold-coast-theme-parks-first-look-at-australias-tallest-water-slide-at-wetnwild/news-story/b04f0e41f709de7ef72ab1b6084f2f00 Image credit: Idk wherever Gold Coast bulletin got that pic from

  9. I think SW too. If you were going to do MW, a way you could do it is have a Movie Memorabilia museum (Show case is fine) and have a vault for a cursed for a cursed movie prop, maybe a 'genuine' mummie that was used as a prop for a movie that was never released as everyone who watched it pre release perished in mysterious circumstances. Some basic shit like that anyway.

  10. It's nice to see this investment. New slides on the Australian scene will be a nice little touch. But I thought a former water park they owned that had giant slide towers gave guest the heebie-jeebies. Let's hope this property does not get sold.

  12. Get ready for endless summer fun of epic proportions with FOUR new attractions at Wet’n’Wild! Brave the tallest water park slide tower in Australia boasting three heart-racing slides plus a massive tropical splash zone. Take off on KABOOM!, the ultimate zero gravity water slide or tear around the insane infinity bends of SUPER RIPPER on the side-by-side body racer. Plummet down the DOUBLE BARREL raft slide with your mates or hang out at the tropical H2Oasis splash-zone. https://wetnwild.com.au/new-attractions

  15. This is pretty outdated thinking now. Ever since the Aussie dollar began to slack, B&M's overall pricing has been pretty relative to other manufacturers. However we don't have the same capacity and service requirements as other countries do, which renders a lot of their portfolio overkill to our market's needs. TLDR; why spend more on 4-across trains when you can have a non-inverting loop?

  16. They can't announce Arkham's replacement until after the 30th event or it would steal the thunder. If VRTP are smart they will start teasing the Arkham replacement at the tail end of the event, with full announcement 2-4 weeks ahead of work starting. I think what was said by the COO is still accurate. By the end of their announcements you won't be able to compete with VRTP as a whole entity.

  17. Hopefully they invest in some lifts for the slide tubes to be carried up..

  18. Never got to ride AA either, but from what I've heard the new trains solved the head banging, but after a few years it started to develop a real nasty rattle and the restraints caused painful thigh crushing.

  19. It’s a new parade with some extra bits and bobs here and there. When the COO says “it’s a big announcement, no one can compete with us”, a new parade and some new (old) characters is a bit underwhelming. Yes WNW finally gets some investment, but it’s hardly the game changer that was alluded to.

  22. Apart from I don't think Mad Max is the right theme for a madhouse, that is all basically fine. Madhouse suits something supernatural, Mad Max is dystopian future, not really magic. I might also be inclined to put the Mack Twist and Splash elsewhere, maybe WnW as a whirlpool replacement, or in WB Kids. Personal taste would be Mad Max RMC behind West/Scooby rather than towards Superman, and use AA's land for a Matrix Coaster (your flyer would work for that). All of this is like 10+ years worth of investment in 2 short paragraphs

  23. Ah! Now that’s a great possibility there! I forgot about Vekoma’s new launched flyers, which are THE BEST coasters for a Batman theme, right? I also forgot Vekoma had their STC now to replace the Slc models haha. Honestly, for what we had, it was a smooth slc!

  24. Pretty sure everyone jealously looks at the rafts in that little river when going over the bridge to mammoth... right?

  25. In all seriousness, if its not a duelling Invert/normal coaster like at USS or a 4D like X2 or Eejanaika they have missed a massive opportunity.

  28. I disagree. I believe we'll see a new gen Vekoma invert or flyer come to the plot. Mainly because B&M has never worked in Australia and the price tag for a Vekoma would be far lower then a B&M invert. I've been informed that there will be an announcement for AA's replacement within the coming months.

  29. Interestingly this message was for the enthusiasts because it was originally posted in the fan page group. You're pretty much lighting a cigarette in a fireworks factory by making any sort of announcement directly to an enthusiast circle.

  30. You can't expect them to install lifts. Sure like one water slide maybe in Russia has a lift but that's about all I know. When you go to a water Park remember these three important pointers • Be confident in the water • It's leg day • Cardio session! It sucks sure, but unless you want no stairs and massive hills to climb like Jamberoo I know what option I would prefer. Stairs, you get that height meaning you get speed. I am speed.

  31. I think really it depends if the message is for enthusiasts or the media. Because both have very different perceptions. In this one case I think it counts as a big announcement, and the “can’t compete” certainly is reference to the offering as a whole and not one single item. Its also quite boastful yes, but that is his style.

  32. "The most advanced roller coaster in the world. The biggest, the fastest, the greatest thrill ride ever built." I get that it's marketing mumbo-jumbo but its not exactly their first rodeo when it comes to these sort of announcements. I imagine it's something that if you know it's wrong then it mildly annoys you, but if you don't then you find it very impressive. Considering that the people who know are a very small percentage, it sort of weighs in an operators favour to stretch the truth. It does get me excited about Wet'n'Wild again! Whilst I've visited the GC a lot in the past few years, I always miss WNW because its personally a hassle. I remember having fantastic days there, but if I need my water park fix I usually just tack it onto a Dreamworld day and head over to WWW for a few hours.

  33. I am definitely excited for this event. It will be great to see all these characters back in the park, even some that refer back to classic attractions. Bringing back something like Marvin the Martian 3D is awesome and I look forward to seeing what they do in the WB Studio Showcase. It’s fantastic to see WNW get a new attraction after almost 10 years. The park really needs it and there is definitely a good variety of slides in there. It will really bring life back to this corner of the park. And while it’s not quite a full hydro coaster, it’s awesome they are finally getting some form of one. I have also heard there will be new bathrooms and food options added back here as well. Bikash did say we would be getting an announcement in May and there would be another to follow this year. Maybe that could potentially be a new attraction for the MW And while it could be seen as the other forgotten park, it’s great that they are still investing in Paradise Country and meerkats are a great addition

  34. Can confirm it’s Meerkats While this event is great and it’s good to see them celebrating this milestone. I was really hoping for a new attraction too (unless they are staying hush about it until 8am)

  35. Honestly, I’m just hoping for Australia’s first B&M! Definitely not a hyper cause the park already has that. Movie World has shown they have the money for large scale attractions, and some people believe it to be a dark ride or something? They would have to replace Arkham Asylum with an equally, if not more thrilling attraction imo. Either a B&M invert or a mini dive machine! That would match the theme great, like Batman diving off of a building or something?! Whatever they do, I’m sure it will be epic! So yeh, sticking with the Batman theme is a real possibility that I find likely.

  38. A couple bonus add-ons for today - as far as I can make out, here's the layout for everyone who only sees a mass twist of timber. (this is my best guess based on the imagery, and is in no way official or confirmed - just thought it'd be a nice add-on for those without nearmap) And finally - the Elevation profile. This line starts at the rear of the station (the 119.5 degree bearing where the transfer track connects) and goes from there. It's obviously not super accurate - firstly because its hand drawn by me and I was lazy and didn't track the curves perfectly, but also because Nearmap captures the height at that spot so it doesn't allow for crossovers and any other track that passes underneath other sections. I found it interesting nonetheless as it captures the height and main drops fairly well.

  40. Having visited with a little one I can certainly say the Sea World splash pad was the highlight of their trip. So could certainly see them adding one. Especially if you have parents who are minding multiple age groups and the older kids want to ride the H2O stuff

  41. You're right. Wet n Wild has a rollercoaster, so why does Movie World need one?
    1 point
  42. I know its unlikely because of the cost but it'd be amazing if they replace it with a Batman themed B&M inverted coaster, heck I'd even settle for a clone rather than an original design if that helped to keep the costs down.

  43. Nearmap update from early October of the park expansion

  44. Shall not be happening. Wet N Wild prefers an enjoyable day at the park to be akin to a workout at the gym with steps and lots of carrying... There is nothing to indicate lifts in the artwork or animations provided.

  46. You are right but most families visiting are gp and probably wouldn’t know about the ride unless they went to the very back corner. it shows most of the time I go there the queue is usually only 15mins max.
