Sea World future attraction ideas

SW needs a decent Capital Injection with a focus on rides, rides and more rides.

Today with really only 2 that could be considered thrilling family rides I would love to see the addition of the following:

- A Creatures of the Deep interactive  Dark ride attraction that would take the place of the Castle Theatre area.

- A fun flat ride over the existing Flume queue and boarding area. Something along the Thrill level of the Pirate Ship.

- A big dipper style rollercoaster made to look like an old sea side woody but a Steel Coaster, like California Screamin at DCA. Obvious location beside Jets Rescue.

- A great big Ferris Wheel, like the DCA Fun wheel. Now that I am sure building height restrictions have changed, they should investigate pursuing such an attraction permanently. The views are unsurpassed. Place along a Boardwalk area beside the new coaster.

Complete rebuild of the Front gate.

It's time to seriously reinvigorate SW. The Park is long overdue for a big spend

A giga ?

I went to Sea World when I was a lot younger and actually enjoyed it over Dreamworld and Movieworld. It had so many rides, rides that I loved, and then those thrilling rides like Corkscrew and Bermuda that I dreamed of riding. But then I came back years later and was disappointed. I completed everything worth doing in half a day. There were not many rides left at all. The park felt way smaller. It had gone from a massive park that I regarded incredibly high for the atmosphere and rides, to a small park with little rides, almost like a little stop on the way to the bigger GC parks.

Could the maintenance period be a clue as to the future of the park?

It's been discussed, but could VRTP already have massive plans for future expansions?

Two reasons this may be a likely outcome.

1. There was a rumor that Sea World was going to become the "biggest theme park in Australia". While this does just sound like media trying to start a story, maybe something slipped and someone found out VRTP's plans. With Vikings Revenge maintenance period (possible closure) announced around the same time, it could be possible.

2. The commonwealth games are coming up. VRTP have already begun renovating Movie World and making it bigger to accommodate the tourism, adding new rides and expanding (hotel and carpark). VRTP probably has similar plans for Sea World. It would make a lot of sense. They have a lot of land to work with, so it's not going to need some over the top thinking, and Sea World is right in the center of the Gold Coast, where a lot of people are going to stay. And if the renovate, people will look into staying at the hotel there and nearby.

This makes a lot of sense, maybe even more than the Movie World's expansion. There is some evidence that this may be the case as well.

The way VRTP is going at the moment, I am looking forward to any announcements they make.

@Intimidator305.

regarding SW becoming the largest theme park in Australia, that was the typical GCB media rubbish, and was brought up with regards to the casino project being lobbied for the Spit alongside SW. Some Braniac at the GCB decided that if a casino is built next to a theme park it automatically becomes an extension of said theme park, which on footage would make if the largest theme park. Whilst I have no doubts the consortiums propsal would do wonders for SW in terms of visitation and ease of access, I highly highly doubt there will be integration between SW & the casino short of a shuttle bus between doors

Ryande16 , That would be a perfect addition. It's not an overly expensive type of ride as well. Only at an estimated 20 million in Australia. (not factoring shipping of track and equipment). It could use the terrain and location better than any flyer out there as it's in such a perfect location near the ocean. Could have a theme like fish swimming etc. But the chances of a B&M being constructed are pretty slim in Australia.

Unless that green and gold track seen at the plant was meant for Australia, and there is a B&M coming sooner than we thought. Color scheme would make sense for the timing and location close to the games.

You're probably looking more at 30mil for a flyer would be my guess and even then it would probably a short one.

SW is an animal park and I'm happy to see more animal enclosures, but with so many rides being closed and not replaced the park desperately needs the balance restored.

For what its worth if you gave me an unlimited spend on the park I'd build:

1. Ferris Wheel (views & gentle)

2. Drop Tower (again great views and would like to see one of those face down drop rides added for the extra thrill and sets it apart from DW)

3. Screamin' Swing (After the problems with S&S they might be more reluctant, but would replicate the feeling on the Pirate ship and a bit more of a family thrill)

4. Enclose the parts of the Flume Ride (Breathing life back into it and giving the park another dark ride)

5. Soarin' Attraction (Could work great with a sea theme and would like to see it go in the castle. However I don't think the space would be big enough)

6. Get Mack in to do a sort of launched looping coaster (good replacement for Corkscrew)

7. Mack spinning coaster (these just look like a hell of a lot of fun and great for families to enjoy)

8. 3 new modern monorail trains with air-con

I would love to see something like a B&M flyer or wing rider, I just don't think it's feasible. But I did think the same about us ever getting a Hyper Coaster. Something someone else brought up here I hadn't thought of before is a wooden coaster with that seaside pier theme, I think that could look really cool!

Problems with S&S?

They built Green Lantern for MW and we all know what happened back in March of 2015 on that ride.

Something else I'd like to add is another family ride. Storm is a great replacement for Bermuda, but is more of a family thrill and therefore has turned away some of BT patronage. Half my family included. I think a true family ride is needed to balance that out.

Also if you want to see a great new layout/expansion idea for SW take a look at what Joz did a couple of months back, it would be perfect for the park!

Both of these attractions would fit in the castle (width) but not to sure about height. They are made to be cost effective and would bring a new experience to the gold coast.

Also whats the new height limit for Seaworld?

Feel free to correct me ;)

@AlexB, I think that @Gold Coast Amusement Force is trying to say that it seems strange they got rid of BT because it was to expensive to fix. However it cost them 20 million to bulldoze BT and build storm.

Exactly

Thank you :)

but very odd they added the storm because of expenses

The whole thing needed a major refurbishment from what i read. Not just fix up a few effects and light bulbs.

Because it was gonna cost so much to bring it back to it's former glory, they obviously saw better to invest and build a brand new coaster. Bring more people to the Park, update it a little ect.

Except you are in a volcano instead of a subway station, and on a boat instead of a train. But yeah, I agree, the differences are minor...

There becomes a point where spending money to fix something becomes a lot less viable than replacing it.

If the motor dies in my 10 year old car, I can replace the motor or spend not much more and get a new car that will last me 10+ more years rather than a few extra. If upgrading my car also brings about positive press and hype that increases people coming to my house to check out my new car, making me money, I end up in the black.
