Current Sea World Thoughts (2018)

The sad thing about Sea world (and village I guess now) is that they were parks that took pride in their shows and entertainment, the Sea World skiers, the seal show and the Dolphin show were top notch presentations that were worth the entry cost alone, now they are cheap contrived rubbish not even worth seeing.

The same can be said for pretty much all the shows and entertainment at Movie World. What has changed? Can they no longer produce a decent live show? This was one of their key differences back in the day between Village and Dreamworld, now they are pretty much on par with entertainment, which is not good considering Village consider themselves the entertainment experts.

Visited SW for a couple of hours today.  It is always a lovely place to take a stroll and enjoy the Day with the Animals and Environment, if not anything else.

Being so close to where I live, if anything else SW is a spectacular Parkland and I am glad it's still there, despite seeing better days.

Some potentially exciting news; it seems progress is finally being made on the reclaimed area beside the old Corkscrew/Pirate Ship site and around the old Lighthouse where some dredging work continues.

Ray Reef remains closed. My guess is Village Lawyers found a risk and won't reopen until deemed safe.  Wtf Pfff..

Shark Bay is getting some TLC and Storm looks to be getting some serious work too.. tick!

A few pics from my phone..

I really wish they would do something about that bridge, and the stagnant water in that 'cul-de-sac'. If they're leaving it as is, just stick a water fountain in the middle of it to break up the surface, and prevent that sludge and crap from sitting on the surface - it looks feral.

Ideally, i'd see them tear down the entire bridge, landscape a ground level walkway (that isn't 6 inches wide against a chainlink ride fence) and make it a nice place to walk around.

Hopefully the movement further down the 'lake' is an indication of something to come - but i doubt it is anything large, as no doubt somebody would have found council applications if it were the case...

Hey @pin142 I take it you are suggesting that extra sand is coming from the dredging work taking place in the lagoon next to Dockside? Judging by the colour of the sand mound in the second picture I'd say you are correct.

You can also see what looks like dredging pipes running from COTD Lighthouse area across the Lake in front of the Whale.

That is a huge pile of sand they have pulled from the lagoon, so perhaps all this is just SW making more room (depth) for their life-long Residents?

Council Applications show that:

- There are currently no applications submitted to the GCCC at this stage which could indicate a demolition of Vikings Revenge (or at least the main castle, not sure if the rest of the ride requires an application for demolition)

- The internal demolition works for the SEA JELLIES building application was only added to the GCCC website during SEP 17, obviously there were definitely some delays there, because council applications are usually posted online around 2 months after they are submitted

- Potentially a new coffee shop is coming to Sea World.

I mentioned this in a customer feedback survey recently.. pretty shithouse really. As far as I am aware there is only 1 bubbler that is adjacent to the Ladies room in the Castaway area. It is just a bubbler- no chiller or filter and the water that comes out of it tastes pretty unpleasant. Not a particularly rewarding discovery being right at the back of the Park!

The bubbler near shark bay is in the Ray Reef area, and obviously because that’s closed for maintenance, there is no access to said bubbler. You’d think that the parks message is about recycling, etc and yet they only provide one facility to fill up your water bottles. For a park that’s quite spread out, realistly they should have at least 4

No such thing as council applications for building work anymore and what is the BLD application number for the coffee shop please.

As much as you could trivialise bubblers as "one of those enthusiast things like lockers or refill cups" I do think they're the kind of thing we should see all over the park, especially given that the heat in summer and the price parks charge for bottled water are both unbearably awful.

I see it as a win win thing, less people keeling over from dehydration means less frivolous law suits and less scenes in the park and more happier guests all round.
