I like the photo you put on Facebook Parkz. @Jamberoo Fan I think you need a new calendar.12 points

Interview with the head of track devolopment & CEO of Mack. The CEO mentions the ride getting built at Movieworld at 9:30 & says it will be similar to Flash at Lewa with a custom layout. Nothing new to what we already assumed, but thought it was worth mentioning.5 points

I'm quoting with the pic again, as it was on the last page and some may miss it. I reckon it's an awesome teaser. Such a good tag line, and I'm glad to see they are giving it the billing it deserves. The way the banner runs along the fence also hints to the scale of this thing. Nice work MW.4 points

And here I was thinking they were footers for the world's largest Dippin' Dots store.....4 points

I don't know why they haven't brought me in to be honest, I'm doing all the right things; relentlessly criticising the park in an online forum is the best way to get ahead right? Haha3 points

Sad to hear! I've known about Adventure World for a long time, but it really wasn't on my radar until your stewardship. It wasn't just the fact that you posted on here, but all the recent reviews of the park and the last years results have proven that you get it. I hope you go on to a long career in the theme park industry in Australia, hopefully on the Gold Coast3 points

All, After 6 fantastic, beautiful years at AW I am no longer with the Park. ? I have loved the enthusiasm and support you guys have shown for the park and long may it continue. The team at AW are amazing so I'm sure the future will be bright. I hope the future 6 years are as exciting as the past. Thanks for your incredible support. Best at wishes to all. Mark.3 points

I am happy to call it @GoGoBoy It’s Goosebumps good. Seeing MW acknowledge the ride makes it more exciting.2 points

Thank you Jobe, much appreciated. Like I said, there is a terrific team at AW who are committed to continuing the journey. Not sure what's next but I'll hope to stay in the Theme park industry and continue to contribute here. Mark Theme parks... Best ever2 points

Sad to hear you go @Mark Shaw - you're one of the few folks in the industry that's impossibly hard to fault in terms of what you've built in your time at Adventure World. Abyss is easily the best bang for buck thrill ride any park in Australia has built in the last decade, and your hands-on approach through so many facets of the experience including dealing with us is admirable. Here's hoping we see you at the helm of something on the east coast soon.1 point

Agreed, especially considering the park's other big coasters aren't themed to DC charac.... oh wait... Well maybe you're still right, you know, given it's not next to any other DC rides... oh FFS.1 point

I don't know - I feel like Sea World is a much better suited atmosphere to host Carnivale, and its a positive step in the right direction towards seeing SW host night events too - given that they aren't as constrained as MW is by neighbours and noise (other than their own resort). I look forward to seeing Sea World host a few more night events in the future.1 point

Hi Elise, Movie World won't be hosting Carnivale, we are giving Sea World this year. More info on the event is now available at https://seaworldcarnivale.com.au/ . Tom from SW. Replacement according to Tom1 point

......."and now for something completely different!" Whilst it's not a theme park, Surfers Paradise (and nearby locations) has a selection of incredible fun attractions. This just seems to keep getting bigger and better, to the point it's almost a shame there isn't an annual pass for all of them! So I thought I'd start a thread to discuss these attractions, and our experiences of them, and also any ideas for other attractions that could potentially be added. So here's what I'm aware of at this stage: Draculas Haunted House (Surfers) - Large spooky walk-through on several levels. https://www.draculashauntedhouse.com.au/ Infinity (Surfers) - 21st centru mirror mazes, and huge walk-through optical illusions. http://infinitygc.com.au/ Ripleys Believe it or Not (Surfers) - Walk through exhibition of the strange and weird. https://ticketssp.ripleys.com/surfersparadise/ItemShow.aspx?Grp=fOTQjkZL7HI=&Name=Tvj9gySvGVFQa0kKzTkfmQ==&s_kwcid=TC|1028741|ripleys||S|p|113271787868&gclid=CInD-eLk_NACFZcDKgodriYNwA Timezone (Surfers) - Advertised as the worlds biggest indoor entertainment complex. Massive amusement arcade, bowling, laser maze, dodgems, crazy golf, and much more. http://www.timezonegoldcoast.com.au/ I-Fly (Surfers) - Indoor 'flying' experience. http://www.indoorskydiveaustralia.com.au/developments/surfers-paradise/ Skypoint Observation Deck (Surfers) - The tallest residential building in the Southern Hemisphere (for now at least) with breathtaking views. https://www.skypoint.com.au/skypoint-observation-deck 7D cinemas (2 locations in Surfers) - Short videos where the seats move in sync with the show, and various other immersive effects to make you feel like you're in the movie. http://www.7dcinema.com.au/ Holoverse (in Southport, not Surfers, but not too far away and well worth the drive) - Advertised as the worlds first holographic entertainment centre. See things around you that aren't really there! http://holoverse.com.au/?gclid=CJz1_JTl_NACFQp-vQod_FUCCA (Opening very soon) Fun360 (Surfers) - A range of interactive experiences including flight simulator, 2-person 3d pacman game, and more http://www.fun360.com.au1 point

King Tutt's has two I believe - the one near cavill and one out near carrara. I've been to the carrara one and although pleasantly landscaped, it was quite yawn worthy. My favourite Putt Putt on the coast is https://www.puttputtgolf.com.au/ they're in Mermaid Beach, so its a little further to go, but its a great day (or night) out, close enough to the beach to get the cool sea breezes, wonderfully landscaped and nicely themed, and plenty of eating options surrounding them including a pub right next door (so of course, @joz is in). Since we're covering them - google tells me that Parkwood (near the GC hospital) also has one. Their website shows little in the way of theme (it's attached to a proper golf course though) so it is very nicely set and landscaped, and is now on my list to check out http://www.parkwoodgc.com.au/mini-golf/ Side note - but I just want to congratulate @pushbutton on a really great idea for a thread. Considering people come here when planning their GC holidays, and they're mostly seeking theme park advice, this thread should be a gold mine of 'things to do that don't involve a day at a theme park' which most families look to schedule in when they have a week or more. Good job.1 point

Good to see confirmation of opening, I always thought Sept school holidays was more likely than Xmas, only so to drive extra holidays/visits in the summer. Is the pink wrap a sign of a female-inspired coaster? Hmmm...1 point

Just bought season passes for my partner and I for Xmas.. CAN'T WAIT to spend more time back at DW over the next year and show my support and gratitude for the years of happy memories?1 point

As cheesy as it may be, there's also King Tutt's Putt Putt. Probably one of the better putt-putt golf courses I've ever been to. Good way to waste a few daylight hours if you've got kids. http://kingtuttsputtputt.com.au/1 point

Thanks @AlexB that's a pretty interesting read!! I stand happily corrected? It's interesting how this body of land compares similarily to the massive sand islands to the North (the Straddies, Morton, Bribie and Fraser) and how over time they formed, breaking away from the Mainland. I was always of the understanding that the Spit was extended and changed to stabilise the Wild waters of the Bar between Stradbroke and the Mainland?1 point

Short answer is it sat on part of the land occupied by outback bay. It, and the dam for the powerboats. From park entry, boats first, then the maze. You can see the old powerboat dam in the top right of this photo. The maze is behind the trees to the left. http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/320-Chairlift/gallery/sort/newest/location/park-14/offset/861 point

Thanks for sharing your photos and being a great contributor to the forums @SuperV! Great to have all these new members actively and positively participating in the discussion!1 point

It feels too controlled and gives no swinging or free falling experience, at least not how it has been experienced so far. I have spoken about this already in previous reviews.. The unique Villian's area as a whole is a vast improvement, easily enough. I believe the ride experience of DD itself has somewhat missed the mark for what it was meant to offer - Villians themselves should be surprising and chaotic characters and the ride is controlled, anything but. The ride itself is capable of producing more power so during it's downtime I hope they explore it's capabilities to offer a more 'Dynamic' experience this Holiday period.1 point

Can confirm Kevil Hill will operate as a scare attraction from Dec 261 point

It would most likely have cost less for sure. But problem is, say you spend 10 million to 'fix up' Bermuda. You NEVER see any return on that investment. It doesn't generate additional revenue. So it's a much better business decision to spend 20 and build a new attractions that brings in return for the capital outlay. It is a business after all, and has to be responsible to it's shareholders with the money it spends.1 point

I don't know the actual figures, but I do remember Sea World saying Storm was the most expensive ride they've ever built. That being the case, I do have to wonder if it would have cost less to get Bermuda back up to a standard where it could have remained open, than what they spent to demolish it and build Storm. Regardless, I just think overall Sea World is being very very poorly managed. I don't know who's responsible for that, but I do think they've made a lot of big mistakes and it really needs some love.1 point

Sorry to hear that Mark, Adventure World will be certainly poorer for you leaving it!! The park is certainly in far better condition than it was when you started 6 years ago and you have set them on the path to be a brilliant park in the future. Your legacy at Adventure World is certainly enshrined! Hopefully you get to stay within the themepark industry in Australia so that you can work your magic elsewhere ( Luna Park Sydney or Melbourne is in definite need of your skill and deft managerial hand!) Thanks for being so open with the enthusiast community- I know we have all appreciated your candour and posts that you have brought to the table here on Parkz. I certainly hope you will remain a member and post from time to time and I think we all wish you well in your future ventures!! Good luck and much success to you!!1 point

According to what's on wiki, it was: "Most expensive theme park ride". Sunrise. - There's a clip online if you search "Seaworld storm expensive ride" Maybe in the short term - but how long should they keep working on repairing and prolonging the inevitable with an ageing ride that could be replaced with something newer and potentially more appealing and marketable? (Keep in mind you can make plenty of ads showing off BT, but people are going to realise it's not new anymore. What's being poorly managed other than removing rides that YOU don't want removed? The plaza was a great investment for the park. Keep in mind it's not designed to be a thrill park. It's a marine park which houses a few rides. Sure, the rides draw crowds in and they're needed, but they aren't supposed to be the focal point. Waiting a couple of years for a major attraction isn't that bad. They're throwing a few hundred million into MW at the moment in time for the games because they know that's the smart investment. Give it time and they'll move over to SW.-1 points
