  1. Mate you are a friken moron. This is not a personal attack so doesn't violate guidelines, it's just a statement of a scientific fact.

  2. Hear that Theme Park Review is a great place.

  4. There was a redic amount of snow this year, particularly in the parade. I should know, every single time they "made it rain" I had to cover the front of my gear. Here's the proof: (fair warning, totally sappy Christmas video that involves listening to an enthusiast mumble on about the holidays)

  5. Yes, I've noticed that too. The treatment of new members on this site certainly has gone downhill in the 9 days since you joined.

  6. It's like you think i'm some sort of theme park nerd or something... ...Yeah I heard it was a pump issue. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I was out at the park over the weekend. It was a really heartwarming vibe to be back at Dreamworld - a lot of legitimately genuine smiles on the faces of both staff and guests which was great to photograph. Here's a few early shots, more to come i'm sure.

  7. See gloating and taking joy in lower attendance, as well as extrapolating that to mean the park is doomed is obviously a silly attitude to have. Having said that it's pretty clear that the park is much quieter than normal, to deny it is just willingly putting your head in the sand for the sake of an argument. The important thing is these return to open days are pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. We really won't have much of an idea of what's going on with attendance until February rolls around.

  10. I took this in the car park, it was at around 11:50. there are a number of empty spaces at the back, but it was fairly average for this time of year, some parts of the park were quiet including Gold Rush but Ocean Parade, Corroboree and Dreamworks Experience are busy with families.

  11. My quick thoughts on Doomsday is this: ....Mmmmmmmmmmm.... I'm very indifferent about the ride experience itself. It's far too controlled. Instead of feeling like a swinging pendulum, it feels like an overtly controlled loop-dee-loop. Having said this, it's a pretty bog standard flat ride, and it's exactly what they needed. It's a great filler, and in the context of the Super Villains precinct, the area is a shit hot addition as a whole.

  14. *pours acid on eyes* Jordan - in the interests of feedback to improve your 'newly launched website' - the single photo in that article looks like you smeared vaseline on the lens, and putting the 7 news quote in red is really putrid to read. If I were a betting man, I'd give more credit to Parkz - a site that is frequently cited by media articles as sources, and Richard himself, who is frequently contacted for interviews and to make statements about our theme parks, than (as you yourself put it) a 'newly launched website'. Even though you said 'possibly' - I still think you gave yourself too much credit. Indisputable is that the topic had been discussed on the Parkz forum for weeks prior to ANY article being published, so Parkz still lands the 'you heard it here first' banner. Finally - that's probably got to be the most shameless plug ever.

  15. I believe Universal that has placed a patent on this design. Looks like Donkey Kong kart jumping from track to track. I think this would be fun and it would be cool if barrels flew at you. This started me thinking what have you see that you liked but has never happened or did happened but is a little different? Maybe even a crazy idea you have thought of yourself.

  16. Bermuda sat closed for like an entire year or more. Sea Viper was closed after already being closed for months. I'll give you skyway and then I'll remind you about the train which still has remenants around the park and the decaying remains of the water park.

  20. Hey Everyone, I'm at Dreamworld right now. Pit & Sherry are testing some of the rides just in case anyone is interested. I'm not sure why the photos got rotated so sorry. Have a good day!

  21. Funny though that on the one hand they've announced an attraction to replace VR, but on the other hand they're building MW's new coaster and they still haven't said much more than worlds best theme park drawcard.

  22. I purely only went to show my support to the park, and wonder around for a couple of hours to purely just enjoy walking around the park. I did watch the tiger presentation, but that's it. But all staff were very happy and seemed pleased to have guests back in the park

  23. So we are a family with a young child... We fall into the group that you say should have filled the park alone... We wanted to go but with my son's kindy christmas party and my wife's work christmas party on Saturday and my wife's family visiting from Cairns and me working on Sunday we couldn't make it... No other reason... Your reasoning is flawed in relation to our situation... Probably is to a lot of others as well... Care to try again?

  26. What a very New Zealander thing to say. Sea World seem to have decided to go exclusively after the parents with very young kids demo at the expense of everything else. The way they're doing that isn't to build more stuff that appeals to that group, it's to let everything that doesn't fade away to nothing. I get the feeling Sea World management would be happier if it were a 70acre luxury resort with animals rather than a theme park. What's shocking to me is that the park is being so poorly run yet the management team get to persist. I've seen people get fired from Village for far less serious things than taking one of the most profitable and iconic parks in the country and running it into the ground. The only element of the park that isn't a disgrace is the animal care side of things.

  28. I don't mind where Surfrider goes At SeaWorld - it fills the blackhole they currently have. But moving it there does cost money and take time. At Wet n Wild - some say it's out of place, but I think it adds a nice bit of variation to the park. When you're sick of all the waterslides, you go ride Surfrider. Plus - it gets any credit whores through the gates to ride surfrider and just surfrider (chances are they'll probably already have a season pass of some sort though) I don't really mind what they do, it could work at either park

  29. 2019? 3 years away? That's taking the piss. How much damage are you happy to do to your name in the next 3 years? It's desperate enough that they need to hire a couple of traveling rides and set them up for a couple years in the field next to Jet Rescue. Also FWIW I don't think Surfrider is really worth the effort to move, I think it's a good fit at WnW, and rather than move it, I might be alone in this, but I'd like to see that water park line be blurred a little be more to set WnW apart from all the other new water parks popping up.

  30. Have just got back from Dreamworld after a pleasant morning wandering around the park. Such a different environment without the sound of coasters or Tower running in the background... more like Currumbin. The thing that made a huge impression on us was the incredibly welcoming attitude of everyone working today... genuinely pleased to be open again... the staff were great. I think opening the park this morning without the rides was actually a good idea. The park had the right balance of laughter, solemnity and fun needed to avoid any more bad press and in this, Craig Davidson, Deborah Thomas and the team made a good call (we were able to tell them this as they spent most of the day around the fountain and they were more than pleased to chat with everyone). Dreamworld will recover... the crowds will come back and people will move on.

  34. Take Sea Viper as your lead here - Sea World can not afford to have old SBNO rides laying about. Once a decision (and an announcement) is made, removal of the ride is very quick: Bermuda Sea Viper SkyWay just as examples.

  36. I know I have one I think you are giving yourself too much credit there, how many unique page views for that story and any coming for a media IP address? If I were a 7 reporter assigned to Gold Coast Theme Parks I would have this or similar running on the main and matinance pages of each park. Possibly it was from my newly launched website suprising amount of traffic considering the facebook views/shares.

  37. It is an old VRTP PR photo apparently, but noted. Yes the red is god awful, the website is a major work in progress. I doubt it was Parkz, I think they were tipped off or found it through monitoring the park pages. When was the last time Parkz provided a statement to a news publication? Fairly sure they generally prefer to quote Joe Blogs who is up from VIC on holidays or that guy with a PHD studying coasters. It was fairly obvious regardless of where it was being discussed, "you heard it here first" hardly matters, I was ready to publish my article on the 8th but held off for the statement. Shameless plug (tick)

  41. Interesting to see excuse after excuse for the poor attendance but the fact is the attendance was poor despite being on a) a weekend and b ) school holidays. Yes, the thrill rides are closed, but there are deeper reasons for the poor attendance, especially since young families ALONE should've filled the park.
