I would say these forums are definitely a place for learning and asking questions, just as much as they are for news4 points

Thanks heaps @themagicianI always love your updates. For @Gold Coast Amusement Force and those who are struggling to imagine what it looks like. I have drawn a picture to help you visualise the crane and what it is doing.3 points

@AlexB but today is an exception. No photos. But just imagine a large crane near the ride area doing crane things3 points

Fair to say I think enthusiasts often forget we're having fun talking about having fun. I don't think the formula for a good community is hard - we're always happy to see curious, interested and passionate folks on here sharing their thoughts and ideas for other like-minded folk to read and reply to. Conversely, I'm personally not happy to see people bullying/trolling/backseat moderating just as much as i'm not happy to see members use this as a dumping ground for their stream of consciousness to exist. You get my drift? Chillout, have a beer, use the search function, have fun.3 points

To echo all the âBuzzsaw will be opening soonâ opinions. As seen from the Giant Drop today the area between Main St and Buzzsaw has been cleared up. Concrete fixed and all work vehicles and materials removed.2 points

Agreed. I guess we should all consider "Would I speak to that person like that, face to face" before posting. Especially given as from the guidelines The Parkz Forums are not a strictly real time discussion environment such as chat rooms. Here you have time to properly construct your thoughts into full and meaningful sentences.2 points

^Precisely. As we saw with the Kraken construction (and naturally one can assume the alpine slide also) the available land they have to the rear of the park seems to have quite a slope to it. The gokart track would be relatively flat, and its the best bet in terms of wavepool space without significant earth levelling. Keep the slopes for slides to use the natural elevations... similar to Jamberoo (Jamberoo's wavepool was also built on about the flattest section of land in the park)2 points

Very good points @Boyden Hingston-Muir - however that includes newer members respecting those that have been here and discussed those topics already. Its pretty much an expectation of any forum - particularly one that has run as long as this one, that newer members would search for existing topics before posting the same thing again. We (speaking as a member of this community, not a leader) don't want to dissuade newer members from posting, but in order to grow our hobby, and not push people away, we also need to be mindful that (if i can use a television analogy) nobody wants to watch re-runs over and over... and if the forums become a regurgitation of topics - it becomes tiresome for regular contributors who tend to fade into the background. But it's not. Straight out of the guidelines: In a conversation, a newcomer to the conversation can ask questions to 'get up to speed' - that's because the conversation doesn't have a stenographer taking notes of what is said. In a forum, those conversations are recorded - meaning that newcomers can absolutely catch up on previously discussed topics without having to interrupt the current flow of conversation.2 points

Settle down sunshine. If you were old enough to be out of high school you'd know it's actually a reference to replying 'Unsubscribe' to mailing lists (and sometimes SMS services) in order to stop that content being sent to you. Nope. It's privately owned. This whole thing ain't that hard. Dismissing anyone who doesn't agree with you as a "hater" as seems to be the custom shows an astonishing lack of self-awareness. Luckily the forum software actually provides a fairly handy way of getting an idea of how you're travelling in terms of your contribution - compare the number in green under your group (members) to the number of posts you've made immediately below it. The better the ratio between the two is usually a good indication of how well you're contributing. If you're finding your ratio isn't so good, perhaps instead of bitching that people won't accept you without any work whatsoever on your own flaws you do a bit of work on that? A really good way of doing so is taking a moment to consider that the forum isn't going anywhere, nor is the new post function - there is nothing to be gained by rushing to create a new post each time that little Rolodex in your mind comes to a stop. Instead, you'll notice the post/reply buttons are actually one of the smallest parts of on-screen real estate - it's a handy tip from the UI gods to suggest that the amount of reading you do should absolutely outweigh the amount of writing you do. As someone entering a new community or a new discussion the onus is absolutely on you to get the temperature of the room before you open your mouth - work out who is there, how they speak to each other and what they speak about. If you were old enough to you wouldn't walk into a pub where a bunch of people are gathered discussing something and immediately (and obnoxiously) jump into the conversation, particularly if you had no idea what they were talking about to begin with. You want to be here? Great, welcome. Read as much as you want - the archives go back quite some way and there's some gold in there. You're absolutely welcome to all of it - and you don't even really need to do anything special in order to do that without annoying anyone. It's when you want to leave your mark by posting that you need to actually make some sort of effort, and that's the minimum expectation. So long as you can cope with that, I'm confident everyone here will cut you all the slack you need. Side-note: This is not a new problem, nor is it specific to this community. Elsewhere they are called vampires (see: http://slash7.com/2006/12/22/vampires/)2 points

Pretty sure everyone said that about Sea Viper too. I'm inclined to agree here. This corner of ocean parade is really terrible. The entrance to the coaster is down a ramp you almost don't see until you're directly in front of it, thanks to the Brock building. It is not the "Grand entrance" you expect a full size coaster, and clearly a signature of the park seen from the highway, to have. WWW needs some space to expand - the former thunderbolt site is clearly already earmarked for some development, but the lazy river is likely to take up a lot of that space, leaving the park again landlocked for further development. We all know waterpark attractions are much cheaper to build, and utilising the HWSW space for additional slides would really bring WWW to the front of 'waterparks' on the gold coast. WnW is screaming for a new attraction, and WWW would nail them to the wall if they brought some new slide towers to that space. It would also allow them to better present the land transition from Ocean Parade to WWW, as the current gate is woeful.1 point

I'm fully aware its privately owned, but it exists on the internet which by its very nature is public. Oh, and i'm well out of high school. And am old enough to enjoy a pint at the pub just like anyone else. I think I've made my views quite clear, so i'm gonna be the bigger man and leave it at that. I don't want to bombard Dylan's topic any longer. Hopefully we can work together as a community to find a answer to Dylan's great question!!1 point

Your nothing but correct my friend. I joined the forum and posted questionable stuff and remember not being guided but discouraged from posting. BUT, there are nice members on this forum like @pushbutton @themagician @Santa07 And others. However I agree strongly that people will be discouraged from posting and contributing when if you do not agree with the consensus than you are wrong and cannot have an opinion.1 point

While I do understand how that could get frustrating, I think some people need to realize that they do not own this forum. This is a public platform where people of different backgrounds come together with a common interest. There needs to be respect between every member, or this site will turn into a place where no-one wants to comment on anything because they are afraid they will get shot down. We want to grow our hobby, not push people away.1 point

A very good question. I've seen it being used just one time, quite close to when it was first installed. I was seriously considering booking it as it looked like great fun. Sadly like the Wet & Wild Buggies, I never quite got the chance to do so! I'd love to know the reason though!1 point
-
At what point were the cages âtemporaryâ? I see no reason to believe theyâd spend that much time and effort installing them, just to remove them for no apparent reason. Personally I donât see they are much of a hinderance to the attraction... just a part of the safety aspect1 point

I read on another thread that an adventure river was being planned for Whitewater World, if that's what you mean. I'd say there's next to no chance of them building anything like Thunder River Rapids for the foreseeable future, and probably ever.1 point

You think so? They're sitting on about 39 acres \ 16 hectares. 7.5 acres \ 3 hectares of land is up behind the wavepool \ gravity wave \ kraken \ alpine slide. That's almost 20% of their land. (In comparison, the wavepool, which is one of the largest single attractions water parks will build, takes up about 1.6 acres \ 0.6ha) Then, when you move on to look at the rest of the park... The alpine slide takes up about 4.5acres \ 1.8ha. Its a huge tract of land, that actually occupies very little of it. Alpine slides are awesome fun, but their capacity sucks. Maybe they can build things around it? There's plenty of opportunity to install waterslide supports, or other 'overhead' attractions, but otherwise, its a huge part of the park that could really be used in many more interesting ways. Right inside the front entrance - theres a huge open grassed area, and a lot of picnic shelters (i assume) which is ripe for the next step up into proper park status (i remember when Jamberoo had a lot of these too). The park's maintenance and back of house area, along with the 'non-overflow-parking' area at the front also measures about 4.5 acres. This area could be redesigned to provide access to back of house, maintenance etc, whilst utilising space closest to the park boundaries for in-park accessible area. When you consider that between the Alpine Slide, the front unused \ maintenance area, and the as yet undeveloped land behind the wavepool amounts to almost 45% of their total land available within the block, i'd say they're nowhere near to running out of room - they just need to be smart about how the use what they have.... (and all this is without even touching the 3.5 acre carpark and overflow carpark - plenty of options to deal with that too) Of course - with all the undeveloped land behind them - who knows what the future holds for them.... so I think your statement is a little alarmist @Boyden Hingston-Muir - and that's coming from someone who has never even looked at the park's space before yesterday.1 point

I'm thinking in the better interest of crowd flow - something that has always been an issue at MW. The entry to the Ricks Courtyard is a Staff door and not suitable for deliveries etc. Having larger gate access further north east of the lane way would certainly be more beneficial for Park deliveries outside hours and day access for Batmobiles etc. Obviously this ain't gunna happen anytime soon but maybe if oneday after the kid's area gets a facelift.. Same goes obviously for the Alley space through to Arkham. Gotham city was on an Island for years and it wasn't a problem for deliveries etc.1 point

What if you duplicated the stations? You could place a rotating or sliding track section leading from each station into the subway tunnels, and the same after the trims at the end. I canât see you ever getting 4 trains running then, but you could definitely get 3.0 points
