Doomsday Destroyer - 2016 Movie World construction

Recommended Posts

I would be extremely disappointed.

For me to consider it worlds best it would have to be either a state of the art dark ride, a state of the art walk through, a very well themed ride experience such as Jaws, or a very innovative cinematic experience, possibly incorporating a ride.

Goes without saying that whatever it is needs to have an immersive movie theme.

Separate from all of that, I'm really looking forward to seeing what the entertainment precinct includes.

No pennies left in Australia.  The mint hasn't produced since 1964.

I thought everyone, including our planning expert, was sure this was going to be the location of the roller coaster last month?

I think everyone was just speculating where a roller coaster would fit.

Ok push we get it!  This is the 20 billion and 1 time you have said you want a walk through.  Just in case no one knows yet. "PUSH WANTS A WALK THROUGH"  :P

^They're not year round, though the rumour is that the old House of Horrors at Uni will be re-invented as a year round Walking Dead walk-through that will debut with Halloween Horror Nights. The entry will be where the exit for House of Horrors used to be.

I've seen some good year round walk throughs, Liseberg and Gronalund spring to mind - though they are upcharges. House of Horrors at Universal was OK, though it was always very light on for Scare actors whenever I did it. Luna Park is very good, and Movieland studios in Italy is pretty good too.

What's a good walk-through, anyway?  None spring to mind.

There are four fantastic walk throughs in SE Queensland.

- Infinity (Surfers Paradise)

- Draculas Haunted House (Surfers Paradise)

- Ripleys Believe it or Not (Surfers Paradise)

- Professor Bogglesworths Illusionarium (Aussie World).

If you haven't experienced these yet I strongly recommend all of them!

Was just at the park and there's not all that much to note. Demolition is still going along, and it appears that the park will be utilising the area between the Show Stage and Arkham, as the have demolished some buildings to make a small opening.

On a weird side note, anyone know how often that Sea World Helicopters will land in the Movie World car park? There seemed to be some business people in the helicopter, but whether it's related to the new additions is beyond me. Maybe it's the heads of the company?

Problem that I have with a walk through is it’s a onetime banger.   I have seen some really good ones but once I’ve been through it, I don’t tend to line up again.

Each to their own. I go to each of the Queensland walk throughs as often as I can afford to.

That's the trouble though. You have to pay each time!

if people can touch it then they will destroy it.  The theming in the queue of the Storm Coaster is a good example of people leaving there mark.

One of my favourite anecdotes was when Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster was in soft opening. A proud supervisor came out to talk to folks in the queue and boasted that the textured castle walls were "pick proof". Of course, immediately everyone in the queue reached out and started picking at the walls -- and soon showed that they weren't impervious to fingernails.

John Menzies (former CEO and current Chairman of VRTP) is an avid helicopter pilot and has been known to commute between parks via chopper. If it looked like a group of business people then it could well have been him taking board members, investors or even ride manufacturers on a tour of the parks.

At MW right now, more progress this morning... Not a huge amount left now! Just a massive pile of rubble.

The painted line across the deck is the most interesting thing to me at the moment.  Is this the boundary of the development or is it showing a service underground.

I will be watching this line with great interest.

This was my first thought when I saw the SW chopper landing at MW... "must be John Menzies"  lol ☺ Maybe he is here to check out the progress of Boot Hill?
