  1. Would love to be those guys up in the cherry picker right now

  2. My bad from this morning, they were actually lifting supports, and the track in the ride area I don't think was part of the airtime hill -it's too twisty. The new banner looks great, although a part of me is a little disappointed they didn't hang it off the coaster. The supports and track I mentioned above: If this piece doesn't get you excited about the ride you're not a true coaster enthusiast. There is more track and catwalk thingys in the crates behind. This is what they were working on today, the airtime here looks like it'll be insane.

  3. Do not fear! Your update is here. July 16th DC Rivals Hypercoaster Update. If I could've uploaded it earlier I would've. Comparison Shot 1 I told you the first hill would be visible through the loop! Comparison Shot 2 First Hill Hey look, the first drop is there too! Brake Run/Station Area Air Gates?

  6. Let’s get this right. Jet Rescue is the current only dry ride and it’s down for 6 weeks in the middle of winter. Creatures of the Deep is about to close leaving one more less thing to do this Christmas holidays. “NEW EXHIBIT COMING APRIL 2018: Sea Jellies Illuminated will be replacing the Creatures of the Deep indoor exhibit. The indoor exhibit will be closed from late July to commence the construction for the new attraction” And people think I drink too much Kool-Aid.

  7. I wish MW would drop DC & Hypercoaster out of the name. "Rivals" is a better name on its own. Together it looks to commercial.

  8. Since there's just so much crazy speculation, i'll clarify: Dreamworld's CEO has gone on record to say that "areas" will be refreshed and repurposed. Adding to that, the Mine Ride, Log Ride & Vintage Cars will re-open by December this year. So here's some logic: if you wanted to be smart with your capex (and the major reason for the Mine Ride's closure was due to changing safety standards (mainly the envelope of the ride's tunnels) then if you've got a team of folks who are removing the Rapids Ride, it'd then be cost effective then to get them to work on the removal of the Rapids Ride, removal of whatever you need removed from the Mine Ride and have the Rapids Ride landscaped appropriately & ready for whatever you plan to put in there next in one hit. From there, you, as an enthusiast can ask logical questions that flow on from that. If there's no Rapids reservoir, do you need any of the bridges or elevated pathways anymore? And if not, is that why there's a path being poured down the bottom of the Giant Drop as we speak? Is that why they've waited so long to install the electronic boom-gates for the train at Main Station? Maybe they were waiting to do two or three sets all in one hit? And from there, if i'm being conscious about capex, what do I, as a CEO, fill that land with? If I was Craig, i'd maybe move the Model T Ford Cars there. It's inoffensive, it's nostalgic, it's a great family ride and it would be dirt cheap to fill a large space with, especially with something that families love. It fits the old timey theme, and would help bridge the area well. There you go. There's some serious thinking there that's based logic and facts that I would love to see on Parkz more instead of constant back and fourth over nothing that happens constantly. As a side-note, Wipeout is being worked on as we speak. A lot of the areas where there was visible NDT have now been painted over with a primer.

  9. Congratulations @Santa07. @SHOOKETH it wasn't funny the first time and stil isn't funny but I appreciate your enthusiasm, . Oh and it's spelt shocked . Just want to say a huge thank you for everyone who has been updating on the construction. Like many others I live in another state and there are only a limited amount weekends trips to the Gold Coast that I can take to see it in person.

  10. WOW WOW WOW. Looks awesome. A lot taller and steeper than I first imagined. The airtime on that will be insane.

  14. Long time lurker first time poster. Excited for tonight's Today Tonight which isn't something i can usually say! The new ride will be a great addition to AW. Is it safe to say AW is shaping up to be the best theme park outside of Queensland or is that a big call?

  15. So a long ride is bad?? I remember when the park signature attractions were 20 min experiences. Nowadays they are que and 2 min ride... I know which I prefer

  16. Adventure world is back from the dead. Finally posting about the today tonight story and acknowledging MI-3. Also AW are now doing their group additions for their seasonal employees.

  17. ^No, I'm just suggesting that they've sealed that building so that they can install the electronics, especially with this lovely wet weather we're having. Some kind of water effect would be nice if it meant people were less likely to be sick on this ride in hot weather.

  18. I find a few things weird. Firsy they do a massive re-theme with carthay circle and the like only to then make it Superheroes... I can only assume superheroes will take over some of the unused stages and the area around Tower/guardians. How they make the Hyperion with Frozen fit I have no idea. Its a shame Tower wasn't closer to Carthay and they could have kept that whole area old world Hollywood. As for Pixar Pier $10 says mostly the area they are touching is the vacant space where the tower rides used to be. And I'd be ok with that. I do worry though that the great path DCA was on with placemaking is being ruined with many of these changes including Guardians.

  19. Indeed, I am Perth Theme Parks on Instagram and Facebook. The orange thing in the distance is a shade structure without a shade on it. Some more pics - I think you'll find this Mi-3 comparison better. Interesting that the control booth looks watertight and there's been some work up top as well. Inferno is still down. I was hoping they would paint it a slightly different colour before it gets resurrected,

  21. Interesting. Thanks for letting me know guys. Hopefully it'll be back up soon, I'm sure it wasn't meant to just be a "leak". Also for anyone who can't access the TT story from the video supplied, or would just like to read the whole story instead, it can be found via this link: https://thewest.com.au/news/wa/new-attraction-swings-into-adventure-world-ng-b88540070z

  22. @ABYSS It was intense drumming and phrases like, Join the journey, something about drums and then it said our new world class ride coming in September.

  23. Cool drumming over the animated star field and then the wooden/stone section closes in. Simple, but effective.

  29. I think it already had that title. I know Mark Shaw had his eyes set on number one park Australia wide. It was the highest rated amusement park/water park/theme park for the 2014/15 season according to Mark.

  31. No one (sensible) is saying use TRRR's layout, rather remove TRRR, flatten that whole area and use that land for a well executed relocated vintage cars. That ride taking up a large piece of visable real estate seems like a very cost effective way of making the park feel more open and give a bit of kenetic energy to the area, which would give the park a chance to add something new without that whole area hanging over their heads.

  32. That hill is MASSIVE! I love the pic showing guests in the Green Lantern queue with the Rivals track in the background and GL track in the foreground. We've got a real theme park now!

  33. Who are these naysayers you talk about? Since you brought Ourworlds up (again) I stopped visiting that site once a corny joke got attached to every photo. The photos are good but the jokes remind me how a Malcolm Turnbull comedy night would go.

  34. You asked for it... raking, computerised, there. Since this is an Australian site, the American spelling using a Z in place of an S is technically incorrect. Clearly your American spell checker missed that one. I won't start on missed capitals or missing punctuation, but there's a bit of that too.

  35. For me, whilst I understand DCA missed the mark when it opened, the revamp it had to bring it to where it is today was great. I liked that it wasn't as 'immersive' as Disney, and that, like Disneyland - many attractions didn't rely on an IP (or at least an immersive one) to function. Paradise Pier's intention (in it's second incarnation) was to be a slightly disney-fied beachside boardwalk. It didn't need Pixar slathered all over it (although Toy Story Midway Mania fitted because the midway could be found on those great beachside piers). I'm not the sort of Disney fan that insists on everything being kept how it was - i'm happy for them to continuously improve, change, try new things, but everything of late seems to be focussed around the IP, rather than the experience itself. I look forward to seeing what they come up with, and i'm sure that they'll do a good job with it - but i'll still lament the loss of some of the old school 'themed just because' rather than 'themed because it ties in with a film'

  36. @themeparkaddict I agree with some of what you've said, but I wouldn't say DW aren't bothered about people seeing the river Rapids. They've got fencing all the way around, with no way to see it. And if you are going up GD, I doubt most people ride it to see it, as you go up the tower pretty quick, and are probably more focused on the height and waiting for the drop. I don't think they've given up on Wipeout, and it's still in bits and hasn't been touched lately is because they are waiting on parts to arrive, so maybe they can't do anything else before they arrive. The ride operated for a couple of weeks before going into maintnce, and is definitely a loved ride. So I doubt they will just get rid of it, especially after all the money they've spent on it in recent years.

  37. Lol. Absolutely right there with the business thing. I was putting myself in their shoes and making decisions based on past business experiences when things go wrong. My post may have been a bit inaccurate and poor quality by saying I promise, but I got the spelling and grammar correct didn't I? My post was trying to outline the following, that in my opinion: - Eureka has a 0.5/10 chance of reopening. - Log Ride and VC has a 8/10 chance of reopening. - Wipeout has a 7.5/10 chance of reopening - Dreamworld won't do much with Gold Rush. Either way, lets hope DW becomes something awesome! I also thought he just sits in his office waiting for the pay check. Interesting to hear what you are saying. Let's hope that they turn Dreamworld into the next best thing to Disneyland.

  38. Bundle load of inaccuracies in what you are saying @themeparkaddict I also wouldnt preface something by saying "I can promise" and then postface it by saying "I'm not Dreamworld I'm probably wrong". This however is my favourite part: Was your business a multi-million dollar theme park struggling to recover from an in-park tragedy that has eroded consumer confidence in your safety and operations, coupled with a challenging competitive market environment; and limited financial resources to utilise to slow and or stop the decay in visitor numbers? If no, that statement before your ideas/timeline would have been just as relevant had you said: "I have had an imagination in the past, and coming from a pure imagination perspective I would feel the following will occur:"

  39. Most likely a new fountain. I would have referenced the new bridge ride, but then he'd be correct and we can't have that. Other than a generic copy/paste of some marketing stuff, it was just "construction update below!"

  41. Went out there earlier today, airtime hill is coming together nicely. Also, as you'll see, the mystery of the missing beam has now been solved and what's in place has got a little chunk taken out of it. If you want to see more VSCO-ish artsy shots of construction, you know where to go.

  42. It's not in the Water Park. Stage 1 includes a Water Park and an open field that are near to each other. The Water Park is a small part of what Actventure Park is. The soccer field as you call it(Green Area) is a multipurpose area for things like sports and concerts. A lot of the buildings will be rented out. This one is for @pushbutton

  45. Hi all just to add a small update on happenings at Luna Park Sydney. Due to the sensitive location of the park and the strict heritage requirements surrounding it, the planning process for the new investment is quite lengthy and time consuming. That being said, the first new ride, a Wave Swinger, is scheduled to open in March next year. It is currently being built in Europe ( most probably by Zamperla) and will be a 64 seat version ( including 8 double seats) It will have the highest capacity of any Wave Swinger in Australia. Its colour scheme and theming is being designed to match the new building theme's throughout the park and it will help establish and enhance the classic LPS feel and aesthetic. I am not certain, but the obvious spot for the new ride would be on the Flying saucer site, to match this section's new look when it is completed: In other news, the Moon Ranger has roared back into life and has reopened, Its not certain if the ride is till on the open market ( I think this would still be the case) but it is certainly one of the rides earmarked for replacement with the new investment. Works should start on the new theming and buildings by the end of the year.

  47. Just stopped by MW to grab some pics. Looks like the airtime hills out of the first drop is starting to get track bolted in. A few more shipping containers of track pieces arrived but I was pressed for time.
