  3. From all of this discussion that I've read mostly from the beginning, we have thus figured out about the coaster. 1. It is manufactured by Mack Rides so will look like this: 2. It will have a height above 200 feet or 60.96 so should look like this. 3. It may have inversions like this: 4. And Airtime Hills like this: 5. And comfortable trains like this: It appears that the 2017 Movie World roller coaster will have a combination of all of these roller coasters. (for those who care the rides shown are: Alpina Blitz, Behemoth, an intamin fact sheet, maverick, and the mack trains for the Mega coaster on their website.) This post was a mere visual aid. It kind of just restates what we've already figured out, but makes it visual for those who are a little unsure. It also sums up what we've figured out in a smallish post so readers don't have to constantly re-read pages to make sure their posts are up to date. Hope this helps some people out.

  6. @xRazzBerryx I gave you a neg rep because I am sick of seeing this things face. My photo is more appropriate. @themagician Thanks for the photos.

  7. I disagree - I think the MRT video, audio and the 'next train' slides in between are a nice touch to the theme.

  8. Why can't somebody say it's boring. Sometimes I don't get this site. If somebody doesn't like a ride and would prefer to ride something else why can't he say so? The people always giving negative rep to people just because they have a different idea to yours just shows how narrow minded some people are on here. Tends to be the same sheep that do it too. I don’t like the ride either and find it boring. It’s short. I have been on bigger slides then the final drop. If I took a 6-year-old on it, they would probably love it. I find keeping a ride around because you once loved it when you were 6 a bit strange. I would prefer a new ride to create new memories and new fun times.

  9. Well they are now recruiting for xmas, interview sessions are being scheduled. So that's one good sign that the park intends to reopen soon ?

  13. Hard to imagine there'd be anyone internally at Dreamworld that would be advocating for the resurrection of this ride. It's every bit as DIY as Thunder River Rapids and it seems apparent that it's these vintage Gold Coast rides that would be under the most scrutiny right now. Viking's Revenge looks to be facing closure and I'd expect Rocky Hollow to have a similar fate. Insurance for any ride not engineered by a major manufacturer in the last 20-odd years is probably going to become very expensive all of a sudden.

  14. They did that because OH&S wanted them to streamline the splashdown. So the ride is toast. It's a real shame, I guess ultimately it's down to public reaction and what the park thinks is appropriate in response. I recall Six Flags completely scrapped that Intamin drop tower with the cable that severed that poor girl's legs, so while say Disney might not wipe out a ride after a death (or two), on the flip-side it's also possible that companies will remove a ride after a non critical incident too. In any case, i'd much rather see them really go all out now and invest instead of pulling a Eureka, because truth be told for them to get out of this mess I think they're going to have to, especially given the media beat up. Time to buy one of these. Any takers?

  15. What if we took the lockers from sea world, and attached them to the side of the train on the new coaster?

  16. I feel like those baracades aren't temporary and are about of theming @Theme Park Girl. But also a way to make sure people don't climb onto it because it does look like some of the parts could break under pressue

  17. That was drilling the holes for the footings on the other side of the lake. It does look like it's further away, but from another angle I stood at I could see where it was.

  18. A Lost Gravity clone would be a great addition, was very impressed when I rode it earlier this year. Good fit for the park too, not crazy expensive and doesn't look too "extreme" to the GP. In terms of family appeal, a Mack spinner along the lines of Sierra Sidewinder might be a better option for them though. It's a shame the rapids are going away because they're one of the few rides that family groups can enjoy together, not many coasters or flats that are like that.

  19. I've had a quick muck around with PC, it's not something I plan to obsess over for weeks at a time like the original RCT or NL2, but I can see myself just spending a few hours with it here and there to kill boredom. @reanimated35 Too early to say if I end up getting anything worth sharing out of PC, depends if I can find a time to be less busy, but I'll see. Must admit I've actually busted out NL2 recently, and reckon I've got a couple 'ok' things in the works.

  22. That was indeed one of the thoughts that led to that conclusion... the public's faith in old rides is now probably at an all-time low. Nobody would trust setting foot near another 80's built ride ever again, even in a refurbished state Obviously this, as you said, will likely affect the old Log ride as well which falls into this category, especially after the incident earlier this year with that fool that stood up and subsequently fell out. Thanks to the media not reporting all the facts at hand with that (both then and now) many people are still under the impression that it was a ride fault. The repercussions of what happened last month are absolutely massive, especially once you realise to exactly what extent for both the families and to the park. Possibly other parks as well, now. The while situation just keeps getting sadder and sadder

  23. The old adage - you've got to spend money to make money. As has been said before, a new attraction will be needed to make people go 'i want to ride that'. If the park doesn't build anything new, and just removes the old, this incident will be the freshest thing in people's minds - and dissuade them from visiting. Ardent has enough money to do something, regardless of a few refunds or a drop in ticket sales. And if they don't, they have plenty of assets to leverage finance out of. If they don't, they start a downward spiral that will be impossible to pull out of.

  24. At this stage it's unlikely even the park knows the answer to that.

  25. Bladex, the whole Gold Rush site is toast. It'll be dismantled. Removed. It'll cease to be a themed area. It'll be an EX-AREA. (Buzzsaw excepted, which will surely be re-themed. Then a new themed area can be built there.)

  26. OK - that idea gave me the willies..You realize people drowned / were made "incompatible with living" by machinery under the water and you want to replace that with something that involves people being in the water... sure that will be a popular ride! Whatever they can't be water related. It's just too close to the situation. They need to go down the path of a roller coaster or some other dry ride i think. I also wonder with them losing so much money being shut, the loss of money from people getting refunds on season passes and other tickets (halloween etc), plus one would assume lower sales for the near future, whether they have the funds to do anything major.

  31. I gotta agree with you, @YLFATEEKS. Since we are on the topic, I have recently been on the end of one or two members continually to downvote all my posts without explanation, and for what seems to be the sake of it. This has included cases where reputation feedback wasn't really necessary, or made very little sense as to why they would be doing it. In these cases I have approached the members directly in hope of identifying what the ongoing issue is, and apologise if I had upset them to the point where they felt they had to act that way. However they just chose not to respond and back out of the conversation completely, which was disappointing ? By all means, if you disagree with a post that much, then go ahead and downvote it. I don't expect everyone to like what I post, and it's going to be the same for others as well. But please, be fair and make the effort to provide an explanation every now and then. I don't see the point behind what is essentially rep trolling :/

  32. I agree with you I agree whole heartedly. And while I may have been one of the down voters, I've seen the flaws in my ways and have changed it. But back on topic, I dont believe Vikings Revenge will close. I dont see why it needs to. Its a loved ride, enjoyed by many, fills the gap as first big thrill ride, and is a good ride for every body to cool off with. If we're talking Sea World, I would rather them putting money into new attractions over putting money into removing old ones. Sea World, needs just a few more family rides, maybe even a family thrill ride. But thats another topic of discussion. Agree. Its just maintenance. There is no need for a closure of the ride, there haven't been any accidents, I don't believe it costs them too much... (I could be wrong) so I would assume it is just maintenance

  33. That's correct @diesal11 a forum should be about discussion. That’s the problem with giving somebody a neg rep. It doesn’t add anything to the conversation and nobody knows why you gave it, if you don't add a post. If you gave a neg rep them, you obviously had a thought about what was said so why not share it with us. @reanimated35 Welcome back and don't leave me alone with @AlexB again.

  35. Definitely! I have fond memories of being on there with my parents in the 80's, seated upfront, and ducking down to hide when it came to the drop lol. I thought it was terrifying back then ?? These days I have my own kidlets to experience it the way I did. My 12 year old likes it, but unfortunately my 7 year old still hasn't been on it as he is too chicken, haha. Hopefully he will change his mind one day! @AlexB is right, the Vikings Flume is a classic. Just because it doesn't cater to one age group (or, in this case, a specific person looking for thrills) it sure as heck doesn't mean that won't appeal to others ?

  38. It was a maintenance area at the back of one of the kids rides. No guest access. They just asked for a new handrail to be installed on a platform. The park complied. Everyone was happy.

  39. Apparently the safety blitz has found a minor issue at Movie World "The tragedy prompted a month-long safety blitz on Queensland theme parks, which uncovered a “minor” safety matter at Movie World, Queensland Industrial Relations Minister Grace Grace said." "“I am advised by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland that only one minor, non-consumer safety matter has been identified to date and this was immediately rectified.” Ms Grace did not provide any further detail about the issue." Complete article http://www.news.com.au/national/queensland/dreamworld-reopening-date-yet-to-be-announced-after-fatal-ride-decommissioned/news-story/15e36ed614a0d80708a495562ed1f5fc Whilst I welcome anything to increase patron safety I feel for the parks as any type of incident no matter how small is going to cop a media beat up.

  45. This is exactly the right comment and what should have been first posted. You don't like it, fine. But just because you don't doesn't mean it should go, that's why so many people will have downvoted it. Yes the ride holds nostalgic memories for many but it is currently doing so for a brand new generation because it does exactly what it's designed to for the park, provide that first thrill for children, be a ride the whole family goes on together and a ride for people who don't like high thrills. With BT gone it's the only ride left in the park that fits that bill because many people find SC too thrilling. Also replacing it with something more exciting. Like what exactly because I wouldn't expect the thrill level to be any higher than the fluke provides for the reasons already outlined. Plus as has been pointed out it's one of the busiest rides in the park, that's for a reason, same as to why SDSC is one of the busiest at MW. You don't like it, fine, but accept it fills an important gap the park desperately needs.

  46. It's not necessarily because he said he didn't like the ride, more the way he said it, he came across to me as a thoughtless person who only cares about his own interests. If someone said "Yes, Vikings is getting old and while I understand it is a classic ride perhaps it is time for it to be moving on?" instead of "good they should get rid of this boring ride" I would be much more understanding.

  47. I love how everyone is lamenting the loss of the ride and thinking it's never coming back despite no suggestions at all from the park this is happening. The ride went into maintenance before Dreamworld's incident. The fact that it doesn't have an opening date is likely the result of two things. 1 - Flume maintenance always seems to take parks longer than expected, whether it be DW, MW, or SW, they always seem to find something wrong with either a belt or a pump. 2 - Given it was in maintenance before the DW incident, as mentioned earlier in the thread, it's may have been staying closed slightly longer while waiting for the results of the audit. Given the audit is now complete for Sea World as far as I know, I bring you back to point one. It's maintenance.

  48. Congratulations on making a post that will most likely get many people offside who love and adore what has been a stalwart attraction for the park for a very long time. I disagree that it is boring, and for many, it is one of the first 'big thrills' you get growing up as a kid - with it's low height requirement, Mum or Dad can take you on for an awesome splash of fun.
