  1. Lightning Rod for me. Twisted Colossus gets an honourable mention, but Lightning Rod is just in front....The things which made it great. -Nicely themed queue. -Uphill launch. -Super steep and scary first drop. -Great use of terrain, with most of the ride hidden from the rest of the park over a hill in another valley, and further to that, lots of intact trees. -Ballistic pacing, it never slows down. -Crazy twists and banking that look almost impossible, but negotiated effortlessly. -Airtime -Plus even more airtime at the end with the quad down, with each bit of air getting stronger and stronger. -Smooth. Of the ones I haven't ridden, Helix at Liseberg looks to be the best. And of course the new MW coaster is looking pretty special at the moment too, considering its only the far end of the ride which has gone up.

  2. Twisted Colossus for me. Not the tallest, longest or fastest coaster but it is a hell of a lot of fun and something that has a high re-ride factor.

  3. No, they're not. A clone is when a layout is pretty much a straight copy...For example Buzzsaw, Arkham, Storm Coaster, Roadrunner, Bug Run. Using similar elements is not the definition of a clone, because obviously every manufacturer has their house style and a certain way of designing each element that works for them. Trying to say using similar elements constitutes cloning is like saying the different sizedd models on offer by a car manufacturer are clones because they often share a family face and design cues, and share parts, engines etc. And B&M hypers most certainly don't all have the same turnaround element, nor are all of them even out and back! Nothing built so far matches Lewas Flash, not even the direction the turnaround is taken in, therefore not a clone.

  4. ^ As someone who has actually ridden both I can tell you that TC is miles ahead of MF. They're two very different ride experiences but for me, MF was the disappointment of the trip. Forceless and rattly. TC on the other hand was the most relentless ridiculous coaster - no video does it justice.

  5. The Sponge Bob Boasting School Blast over at Sea-world is my favourite. The Air-time on that is amazing, best coaster in the world in my opinion.

  6. I don't think that's broken. It looks like it's been dug out to me. I'm guessing the tie down rod was damaged. If you look closely you'll see that it has had an extension nut placed on it within this cut out section. This is not unheard of in (coaster) construction.

  7. Supports going up in first drop/return section. More #9 supports have arrived. (Only mention this because they appear to be the lift hill supports) Another angle on the mess of supports Oops... and to finish it off (and because I like panoramas) here is one from underneath-ish the Stengel Dive

  8. Today's update. Plenty to supports installed, and some on the road ready to be installed. Along with the covers on the support outside the fence have been taken off.

  10. Go back to page 142 and read a few pages from there. Find the pics of track pieces 42 & 43. For example, this picture that @Theme Park Girl posted on page 143 shows piece a very twisty (sorry Richard!) piece 42, and counted back from the pieces already in place leading up into the Stengel Dive, it must be in the "loop" area...

  11. In SE's final dialogue before the launch, it seems to launch early before the "Superman fast" line about 50% of the time. Have experienced the same BWSS audio glitch before. Also regular effects issues on SDSC and WWF obviously. In terms of awesome ride announcers, there was a guy on the BuzzSaw who was amazingly funny. When telling us to remove loose items, he went for a solid minute or two of ridiculous stuff like, "If you are pushing a wheelbarrow, you cannot take it on the ride," and "If you are carrying a fruit basket, it must be placed in the boxes provided." He had a full monologue, and it varied for the rides before and after me. He really changed the whole mood, it was great.

  12. Seems like a perfectly reasonable question to me. If the parks managers read it then it could actually be useful to them as well. On Wild West Falls at Movie World I've noticed numerous issues, including: - Wheel at end of ride as you approach the station is supposed to have water flowing onto it, causing it to turn, but this hasn't worked since the supposed themeing upgrade several months ago. - The guy that appear on the screen as you go up the slope in the second mine shaft often repeats a short part of the message over and over. - The sign in the tent village area that shows the population often has the reduced population showing constantly, and even when it does go up and down, it no longer fits properly in the "up" position. - The building where the balcony is supposed to collapse and then an invisible person falls into the water below, neither of these effects have worked since the supposed upgrade.

  13. I've experienced plenty of timing errors, and relatively commonly on WWF. I don't really care if this thread is locked, I voted no because discussion will probably continue for a couple of days, then the thread will die.

  16. Thing is I'm not the one who suggested an immersive themed land with an RMC then went on about how I'd have it all be about story. No matter what backstory you come up with, when you walk in the area it looks like a roller coaster, and when you're on it it's tall enough that you see thr outside world. You can't have an immersive themed land with an RMC without a Disney budget. I think words like immersion and story are enthusiast wank though, so RMC me!

  18. Probably not the 'best in the world', but T-Express at Everland, Seoul. It's just a really well designed Intamin Woody. Basically, imagine all the air-time and smooth banking of Superman Escape, but in a wooden coaster. Not too intense, just a really enjoyable ride. I'd rank it as one of my top classic woodies.

  19. I think it's your bestest, favouritest coaster seen from a distance but never ridden. A coaster that looks great but I have never ridden would be Twisted Colossus.

  20. I've not ridden nearly enough coasters to be able to answer this question without bias and nostalgia clouding my opinion. Sadly, it's probably still Superman Escape, though I reserve judgment for my impending Japan visit to change this decision.

  22. So are you asking about what we think is the "best" coaster in the world, or what our "favourite" coaster is?

  23. More vertical construction on the main building New marker-things (weren't there last weekend) have appeared outside the temp fencing and looks like the studios are preparing to utilise the pool/tank

  25. Blair Witch would be an interesting option, and could make good usage of the outdoor/tree props. Ive always thought a Scream Maze would be an easy do as really it would work in any generic set at all. Texax Chainsaw to me wouldn't have much point of difference to HillBilly Slasher. Alien wouldn't work without animatronics which won't happen.

  26. It was the attention to detail the manicured gardens the amazing ride and park theming when you walked through the town hall entrance into mainstreet square you were transported into another world another time when went into village green it felt like you walked into a real Bavarian village with a snow capped mountain with a waterfall down the side (avalanche ) you would walk down to river town see the vintage cars and the captain Sturt paddle wheeler and you felt like you were in an old river town of the early 1900's ect the theming just flowed Dreamworld staff had costumes that fit the different themed lands they were in the entertainers and live music where ever you went in the park the fun of the fair atmosphere it was all done just right and I gues after John longhust sold it they attempted to turn it from its Disney-like origins to more of a six flags park which in my opinion was a big mistake with mismatched theming ect

  29. This is such an inane topic that I've decided to add a poll to this thread. I'll check back in 24 hours to carry out the desired action. In answer to the question, yes I have experienced an effect or audio problem, and so has everyone who has been on a ride wether they know it or not.
