Movie World Scheduled Maintenance 2024

I actually think they should have tiered single day visit ticketing. It’s currently $105 for an adult when bought online.

They could charge $90 on general weekdays, $105 on weekends and then charge $120 during holidays/public holidays

Surely that variation would work in there favour and entice more people to go on weekdays

I'd be going even further when they have these periods of substantial maintenance. "Buy a day, come back again for free later in 2024" would be an easy promo to run, acknowledges that the full park offering isn't available, and has the added bonus of guests likely spending more money again when they come back.

Not a single thing working in Villains area except the killer croc water feature which is on constant run.

whats more disappointing for me as a Batman fan is seeing the lack of care and upkeep on the Batman legacy walk thru.

genuine movie props scratched up by idiots, but I get you can’t fully control that, but you can use a duster once in a while on the cowls… horrendous

One thing Village need to do is beg Greg Yong to come back. Greg has changed Dreamworld from run down to a great park, while BHG seem to cut costs as much as possible.

Greg should definitely stay at Dreamworld, he ran Movieworld well but they couldn’t keep it up once he left. Dreamworld is definitely the best park on the coast now, Rivertown and their future plans are just going to maintain their position.

On whatever topic we are, seems like foreign visitors (specifically in this one case US YouTuber 'AirtimeThrills' ranks Movieworld pretty high, mainly for Rivals, which he ranked as his 13th best coaster of all time, and he's ridden over 600 coasters around the world (for whatever that's worth). Otherwise he was pretty critical of the ride ops, both at Movieworld and especially SeaWorld. But yeah whoever the bean counters are behind the scenes at Village Roadshow need to get shown the door, just sell the parks to Six Flags or Cedar Fair (yes, I know, I know) or whoever has an actual interest in managing a THEME PARK and stop treating on otherwise "good" park as some sort of cash machine for people who think buying stocks in a movie studio-cum-theme park is a sound investment when everyone behind-the-scenes just wants to sell the land to property developers but is resisting the urge out of the desire to be inundated by bad press.

Curious to know if Superman/Batwing/Scooby being down significantly contributed to this conclusion? We left MW early too on our last few visits, mainly due to lines being too long for our liking and rides going down for maintenance unexpectedly.

Is being more-or-less a regular at the park another reason for us to leave early? If there's nothing new and you've done all the experiences before, you might feel like the magic is gone because there is indeed nothing new to experience for the first time.

I kinda felt that way last time we were over in the US. I remember a theme park needing a full day and experiencing all the shops/shows/theming etc, mainly though because I was anxious to get on rides and was trying to delay. Now that I'm over that fear and just want to get on rides, I've found that my day in a park is a little less 'satisfying' because I'm bypassing all the secondary experiences and just heading to the rides queues all day.

I’m not talking about ride lineup, that’s not the magic

magic is atmosphere, interaction, experience

it’s all lacking.

from dead zones, to ride ops who look and act like they wish they were not there, to lack of upkeep, to closed shops and food outlets.

to take one thing in isolation from yesterday - the 3pm parade.

It was over and done with in 7 minutes.
- no floats stopped, no characters got off floats to interact, half the floats were not there with the characters just walking (no scooby van, no joker, no Supergirl, no justice league), literally just went down turned around and went out the back

Where the f**k is the magic in that? I remember 6 or so years back everyone decanting from the floats, dancing, taking photos. I remember Bugs lifting my toddler son up and dancing with him and the joy in my son’s eyes. Nothing now. Gone.

I miss when the Wild West falls had its effects working my favorite effects at the last bit have been broken now for almost 3 years. It is pure laziness and completely with in the parks ability to fix.

Rember when Justice League had half of the screens broken but it stayed open for like 2 years before they fixed it.

And I agree about the staff the only good staff there is one of the ladies at guest services Virtual Que wasn't working for me and when we fixed it it was full for everything, so she gave us a skip the line pass to any ride we wanted. and there was a good one at the batman store to. I Rember them cause everyone else are miserable angry and rude.

It's almost as if a sizeable portion of the parks he's visited are Six Flags joints that are to put it lightly not very well looked after.

For our standards, yes. Movie World looks horrid right now. Our parks dont compete with six flags but movie world does compete with dreamworld that's spent the last few years getting cleaned up while movie world has been neglected. I've mentioned all of these many times before but will elaborate again:

  • Ride effects not working or deactivated (looking at you West)
  • Removing cool signage such as road runner and scooby and replacing it with shit flat ones that all come from the same machine (why? are they a safety issue or something)
  • Rubbish and upkeep (managers at these kinds of places need to be on the ball with this stuff so I wonder what they are doing)
  • Removing virtual queue to gouge more people for fast track (straight up anti consumer I actually hate this one)
  • Seldom touching WB Kids in a decade, apart from removing a hut and a ride and then adding another one (when i last visited a year ago the state that it was in was embarrassing, would hate to see what it's like now)
  • Unenthusiastic/sometimes rude staff (I wonder what the management team are doing right now, because I know from experience that doesn't happen at entertainment venues with the right people in those positions)
  • Retiring ride specific staff uniforms (Superman, West and probably scooby when it's back are worse without them)

2 hours here and i’m calling it - movieworld is now the worst theme park in the country, by a decent margin

hopefully Oz and and a reopening Scooby make a difference but there is no magic left here

MW lost its magic years ago so I don't know why you keep going if it displeases you.  🤷‍♂️

Just a point to note here - they don't own the land at Oxenford. (And last I heard they were trying to sell the studios.)

I've been saying it for a few years now - Village have been coasting on their reputation. For at least two years, they've been slammed by crowds and bad press with lots of things not working, long queues, and almost no care for the guest experience.

Dreamworld isn't there yet, but they're showing signs of overtaking Village, and they're doing all the right things to get there, while Village is in a race to the bottom.

Unfortunately, while people continue to buy passes and fork out for village centric holidays visiting all 4 properties plus AOS and TopGolf - while the money pours in, they won't change what they're doing because it's still profitable.

If you're truly fed up with the experience at Village - don't renew your pass. don't plan your family gold coast holiday around the VR properties. Go to Dreamworld. Currumbin. The beach. Heck - go to Singapore or Hong Kong if you're interstate as it will likely cost you similar amounts for a far superior holiday.

STOP GIVING THE BASTARDS MONEY IF YOU WANT THEM TO CHANGE. MONEY IS ALL THEY UNDERSTAND.

Exactly I have already cancelled my pass there I'm sticking to Dreamworld where I actually have an enjoyable day.

Bottom line is Movie World is run by a bunch of Tools. No wonder why all of their top staff left and went to Dreamworld.

THIS! 🙌🏼 exactly why I haven’t renewed my pass.

Couldn’t agree more. So here’s my 2 cents… that no one asked for 😂

I’m a GC local and always have both VRTP and DW / WWW yearly passes, however  around September last year when the time came around to renewing, I couldn’t justify renewing my VRTP pass for a few reasons. Number one reason, price. I think $220 at the time was a bit extreme. With the recent GC deal over the holidays, I was considering getting it but I still don’t think it's worth it in the state the parks are currently in. I honestly found myself riding Levi at Sea World a lot of the time, compared to being at MW… which is saying something. VRTP needs to pull their finger out and put some TLC into their parks. That goes for repainting the slides at W&W 🫣🤢. I feel the magic and atmosphere is declining there (MW in particular) and it’s not the same as it used to be. There’s no sense of urgency, and that applies to a lot of things. Sounds like a lot of people on here feel the same way. It was also a big mistake to remove virtual queue. It made a lot more out of your day for what it was which also pulled me into going a lot more. I know some others on here have said similar so I won’t go into it. Maybe I’m biased for Dreamworld and always will be 🤷🏻‍♂️ but for the state and how things have been operating at VRTP…. Meh. I’ll give it until WOW, Scooby & Flash to open up and maybe reconsider. I’ve had a VRTP pass for roughly at least the past 15 years, but I got too annoyed with leaving feeling unsatisfied for the past few years and it’s just getting worse.

It’s a village wide thing. They’ve done this at sea world for pretty much forever, they’ve left retired rides at the park visibly rotting away in front of guests for years on end until figuring out that they need to do something about it. Reminds me a lot of early 2010’s dreamworld actually. To their (read: Bikash) credit it’s been slightly fixed up though.

Reports of leviathan quickly becoming a bone shaker are seriously concerning too.

Village can get away with this shit because people who come from interstate are indifferent and are still going to visit their parks regardless. Old Dreamworld did this until they killed people. It’s quite frankly a huge shame because new dreamworld is a better park than it used to be but the reward for effort hasn’t been there because of those aforementioned deaths
